Hey guys, I got my hands on a car hauler. I believe it's a custom built car hauler. I believe it's 20ft long and 6ft 3 1/2" wide. It's a dual axle trailer on leaf springs with 10 Ply tires with a 3100lb rating for each tire. It has built in ramps that slide under the trailer and lock into place. It has a Bull Dog Hitch. The Hitch Lever has been smashed so I need to replace it, although it works just fine without the lever with the wire attached to the sleeve to lock it into place. I'm not quite sure how to fix it honestly, since everything is welded into place.
So I haven't even had the chance to haul anything on it yet. However my rear differential exploded in my Nissan Armada. The owner before me put the wrong weight of oil in the differential fluid in the rear, which I assume he did the same for the front. So I'm having them replace the fluid in the front also or might just do it myself. Well after 2 months, they got it fixed today. It was partially due to my part for me buying a whole new rear differential off of ebay for with 60k miles on it from a wrecked Armada, which didn't seem like it had much damage done to it, which was a front end collision.
So the body shop is interested in buying it. I just lost my job so I dont know how I am going to pay for it. Here is something I need to mention. I went there one day to grab some belongings and the keys were in the truck with the truck unlocked. I brought the keys in and told them to make sure it's locked. I was moving and had roughly $2k+ worth of car audio amps, wiring, speakers, tools, etc.. in there. Well when I went there after they closed to grab a few more items, I have the 2nd key, the entire truck was unlocked AGAIN! Well guess what, everything was taken out of the truck. So now I have to do some legwork and provide as much receipts and proof of ownership of the items in the vehicle so they can send it to their insurance company. He told me this was the 2nd time this has happened. Then why was my truck unlocked again? I don't get it. So I have some leverage to negotiate the labor cost since I bought the rear differential off of Ebay. I pretty much STOLE it on Ebay by offering $300 and put in the terms with free shipping, for it and they accepted it. Not bad.
Can anyone please tell me the value and what I should tell them my price offer. Remember, I have leverage. Maybe I can do an even swap. I'm not sure how long it took for them to drop the rear differential and put the new one in. Maybe it took them roughly 12 hours. What is the mechanical labor cost now-a-days? $100/hr? I would suppose that would be $1200?
So what do you guys think? I attached pictures.
I hope I posted this in the right message board and the right section.
Here is my Photobucket Album of the car trailer.

I have no idea what a small single car trailer such as yours would be worth. You may check on www.thetruckpaper.com or www.autotrader.com. You can also pick up a copy Autotrader at many convenience stores. Thetruckpaper is usually found at most truck stops. Both can be accessed online.

On E Bay and Crigslist those type of trailer in good condition and road worthy are selling for around 1500. However I would hardly call 6ft 3 in a car hauler. Most Car Haulers are 102 inches (8ft 6inches) I am guessing it was made for Sand rails and the like........... Of course I could be wrong as most cars average about 6 ft. Just be careful jumping out of the driving seat.........

I don't see lights of any kind, reflective tape on the side, nor do I see trailer brakes. I also don't see breakaway emergency brakes. Does it have a title, or even a legal serial number?
According to what year it is, any of those things would make it not legal for highway use in my state. I would suspect with it also being a home built trailer ,then $300.00 - $500.00 is about right unless your state is much less restrictive than mine.crb Thanks this. -
I sold a way nicer trailer than that for $1500. If that trailer is worth $1500 I should of sold mine for $6000.

personally I would have gone for an even swap, then gone from there...
it all depends on the market, back when I was in sales with power equipment we would have a hard time selling a tractor for $500 in December, come April that same tractor would bring $2500... supply and demand. -
I can deliver it to Dallas or north of Dallas area as I go there once a month. I can also deliver it to Wichita as I have family there. Anything other than these 3 locations and delivery or meeting in the middle for delivery, will have to be negotiated as my truck gets 15mpg on highway with the wind behind me. -

Thanks for the info. I was wrong on the length. I tnink it's actually an 18ft car hauler. I'm having to go by the pictures where my tape measurer Nola went to 16ft. I have it stored at my grandmother's house, but I do remember having a good memory of the trailer. it can easily haul a car or even a truck. so I could be wrong on the width. I mean, why else ddoes it have a dual axles and 4 10Ply tires rated at 3100lbs? That's 12,400lbs of towing capability and after looking at the axles, they are big enough to carry that payload.
