Sorry to inform you,but all company's govern there trucks. Most are 65mph some a little faster at 70mph.

Whether or not a truck is ungoverned should not be your main concern when researching a company!
Driving safely should be the number one concern.
Also keep in mind that many companies that might have a "chicken truck" with high top speeds also expect you to drive that speed. Meaning lots of chances for tickets. And because they are spending all their money in providing fuel to feed that high speed they are paying their drivers less.
Me? I'll take a 65 mph truck and better pay.TruckPreacher Thanks this. -
it most definitely is NOT my MAIN concern, but it is something that might help weigh the scales toward one company over another if i were split between 2 or 3 companies equally. i just thought it might be good to know.

Just to get a truck that's fast is kind of stupid IMHO. You may want to let it go at times but your highest goal should be to protect your CDL. Sure you want a truck to go the speed limit and I always told the boss I want to go up the hills just as fast but it really didn't matter to me.
There's no two companies alike. You've got to really study the company you're going to work for. If you're going to use that company for a stepping stone then it's different but most companies you look at you should ask yourself where will you be 20 years from now. -
The company I'm with now all of the company trucks are limited to 62mph. It's a bit of a pain at times as you cant quite hit the speed limit on say I-90 in NY. That being said tho you also don't have to worry much about getting a speeding ticket. (on the interstate at least) Also it can be a bit more of a relaxing ride you get in your lane get up to speed set the cruise and just sit back. Most of the time the rest of the traffic just sails on by you and you don't have to worry about dodging traffic like crazy or anything like that. It's more about just keeping it between the lines. This might sound lazy and or dumb but at the end of the day you are less stressed from the days driving.

that my top two MAIN goals WILL BE SAFETY AND LEGALITY!!
Getting a truck that is fast is NOT what I'm looking to do....I'd just like to be able to get close to the speed limit, that's all. A couple miles per hour can make a big difference.

No truth be told they make very little difference, very little at all. The difference in 2mph after 11 hours is only 22 miles and that's if you don't slow down. Like others have said a governed truck should be your absolute last consideration.
