Would this Pete 389 be a good choice for a 13 axle set up?

    12,000 lb. steers
    40,000 lb tandem
    550 C15
    3.42 gear
    55,000 GVW

    Etnyre 9 axle

Pulling loads out of Canada and the 48 states.

I would like to stay at 12,000 on the steers for Canada

I like the GVW but not too sure on the performance and structure. it seems weak!

Too light on the steer and rears are also too light.
And you been doing heavy haul for how long?

Also if running Ab. you better check the rules on tag or lift axles.
Best thing to have is a tri drive. Just be carefull when running one.

Do you have work lined up or are you going into this on your own?

The truck you were looking at looked to be more of a grain hauler to be honest. I see a lot of guys running those type of trucks. Could've been used for a flatbed as well. Some guys prefer to have the tag axle. That one's only a 10k axle seems a little bit light to me. they've been moving a lot of turbines down here lately on schnable trailers (appologize heavy haulers for my spelling) most of those guys are running a similar setup to this one. I don't know a whole lot about heavy hauling, but even the 7 axle the local equipment companies around here run are setup similar to this one. I would also say if you can't find an old truck with a C16, go to a cummins. I'm not impressed with the 550 twin turbo cat we have. And I wouldn't dare hook that thing up to anything more than about 90k just doesn't have the pulling power. I have a the C16's predecessor in my tractor and that things a beast.

Good luck on finding yourself a truck and your purchase.

    20,000 on the steers
    Double frame
    CAT C16
    20,000 Tag axle
    4.11 gears

    Does that make more sense?
