A friend or now "ex-friend" was selling and hid them in my car without my knowledge, i got pulled over for a "routine traffic stop" while traveling through the south side and my car was searched and all these drugs were found (total shock for me). And when it came down to court it was their word against mine and laywer told me to just plead guilty and take the 410 probation to avoid jail time. ####### Scariest month of my life. As for my work work ethic (i rarely speak highly of my self) i have started 3 Companies and have employed over 30 people at more than $15/hour (a livable wage) each over the past 4 years. ive always had ALOT of respect for truckers and just want to go OTR and See the country while getting paid. Thanks for the support everyone, i will keep you all updated if i get a job or not.
Trouble getting a company to hire me. i would love some advice

Many drivers out there do deserve a chance and many deserve a second chance. But unfortunately trucking companies don't see it that was as to why so many excellent drivers can't find work.

avenger, getting your car searched has a lot to do with profiling. I have never been searched. But in the suburb of chicago that I used to live im (not going to name it) every time I saw a black or mexican stopped they were sitting on the curb being searched, while the whites never were. its not right but its the way it is

There is another line of thinking that says they search when there is a reason................guess they had a reason here?

While I was reading this thread a couple of thoughts passed by.
1. Why are Schools allowed to take on potential students with a record that is denied by the Industry as a whole? Surely If they are accepting Grants or lying to acquire student loan money, they are no better than those who are denied employment?
Don't Schools have to do an eligibility and back ground Check, in the same way a hiring company does?
2. I have never heard of a Class X Felony, only 12345's, But something so severe would surely place a person on Parole, which would mean being gainfully employed in Trucking especially OTR would cause a breach in the offenders parole requirements ?
3. If a person has served their sentence and restitution to society has been paid, Why do companies reject the applicants? I can understand a company that is bonded or is contracted to something like carrying weapons and explosives even carrying Mail. But how about driving a dump truck? (No disrespect to Dumpers).
4. I also read the it wasn't me script!! But isn't that the standard excuse? And isn't everyone in Jail innocent???
This may seem too faced after the above questions, No I wouldn't hire him. Because there are too many honest clean drivers looking for work and as far as I am concerned they deserve the chance over someone who had the opportunity and blew it.....Last edited: Sep 13, 2013

I never would have plead guilty if I didnt do it, but have never been in that situation...... Ive known a few drug dealers in my very distant past. Not a single one of them would have let their stash out of their sight, let alone leave it in a unsuspecting friends car. But I guess there is a first time for everything. Regardless, you plead guilty and now have to face the consequences regardless if you did it or not.
Make sure to apply to the companies mentioned and good luck!mje and fr8te_sh8ker Thank this. -
I agree with question#1.But every company has their own policies.I think the carriers use their degression not the entire industry so things like this.

not saying this guy is innocent, I dont know. But i do no the system is currupt. there are a lot of unjust searches. he could be lieing but his story could also be true. only he knows the truth so why jump to conclusions?
FloTheWaitress and mje Thank this. -
They see it on his record and that's all companies need to know. They do not wanna hear your side, they do not care what you have to say.In trucking you are guilty till proven innocent.Thats how it always will be.I don't have a clue if this poster is innocent or not,I wasn't there. But when posters post their ugly part of their life on the forum for the world to see,of course ppl are going to come up with their own assumptions and posters should be aware of the that before posting anything.
