Fortunately you will NOT have to worry about other truck drivers stealing from you or your truck.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

So every truck driver out there is honest!! I've read many times of other drivers stealing fuel from other drivers trucks. I highly doubt that all drivers are angels and there are plenty of them who would take the opportunity to steal whatever isn't nailed down. It's unfortunate but it's the society we live in and if you have to leave your truck there is a chance things will get taken. If something gets stolen it may not always be a thief in a car that cruises the parking lots looking for unattended trucks. It could be the guy parked next to you. The biggest majority out there aren't thieves but I'm positive there's a few. I'm wondering why you made that statement unless it's meant as sarcasm.

At one time, HOPEFULLY still in the present, truck drivers had a reputation of looking out for one another, or at least NOT sabotaging, victimizing, or stealing from one another. It was NOT meant to be sarcasm or derogatory.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Mje...might need to re-think that one my friend. Thieves do just what another poster said , they'll stake out a place and strike when they are pretty sure that no one is around. Be nice if things were the way you said....but I'm telling you , thieves have always been around....and to be painfully honest some drivers not even a large % of them , but some guys would steal the breath out of your lungs , if they thought you weren't looking...always been that way too...

Whatever you do... DO NOT tell anyone you don't know and trust that you'll be parking it for an extended period of time. If you just park and walk away they have no idea when you will be back. If you tell them you're parking it and will be back in 2 days, they know that the second you leave the parking lot its fair game. just something to keep in mind. Security is a funny thing, your best thought out plan may make you a target. Just think from every angle, and use your best judgment. You cannot prevent every threat but you can certainly minimize their opportunity.

Look around your town for industrial areas too. I used to live in a small town in Northern California and saw a lot of trucks and dropped trailers on side streets behind a grocery store on the edge of town. I parked there with no problem for years. Of course, always check the signage. I returned to my former home town years later and that whole area now bans truck parking.
