This is where I'm spending my Sunday, me the wife and these 4 dogs of ours, all 20 feet out my back door. All work and no play is not good, time to play. Be safe all, God Bless.

    What a life..jpeg

SD, curious question. When you take a load home, how far out of route do you end up? Asking because something was said to me about doing that, even though it was okayed by dispatch.

Honestly RC, it depends on the load. There is no REAL number. Sometimes I go out of route a couple miles, sometimes it is on the way.

That's the beauty of where I live. I am right dead smack center of several freightlanes that originate from both Richmond and Fayetteville. And that also makes it easy to pull off a fly-by overnighter.

Ditto here. I've gone 80-100 miles out of route and I have gone 0 miles out of route. I keep a detailed record of everything I do and it comes out to about 4% actual miles per month more than the pay miles. I was always taught to keep it under 10%, but I like to cap myself at 6%. I ran a couple times from the yard empty home b/c of the wife's surgery in Aug but pay miles were 10446 and actual miles on the truck were 10820. I always try to come under or at pay miles, some areas like PA are hard.

If you weren't 55 miles north of me you would have had a place to spend the night, you still do if you are ever down this way. The doggie treats got these four dogs of ours all excited after I told them. I'm leaving the house about 9pm tomorrow night to head over to Naples for Wednesday.

Thank you, SD & Uturn for that info. I was on home time Thursday and called to make sure my last 2 loads were received because I scanned them on my phone and to make sure Alan was aware of all the detention time I was requesting. While on the phone with him, he asked me where I was and how I got there. I told him home and I bobtailed. He then gets Kimberly on there with us and asked her if she knew I went home. She said no that last she knew was to drop my empty at HP1. I told him to look at the Qualcomm at the message where she instructed on what to do. Then he asked my how many times I took my truck home and where did I deliver to do that. I always take my truck home and 99% of the time I deliver somewhere close. The furthest has been Sabra. Sometimes I bobtail and sometimes I have a trailer. Kimberly tried to say she was not aware that I was doing that. Again, I said look at the Qualcomm because I make sure to send in my empty and headed home bobtail or with trailer message every time.

Then he asked me why I took a FL load to my house over Labor Day. I was told I could by Jonathan, Don, and Mike McDermott. That's why I asked about that. It was 60 miles out of route. The only reason was there were no loads but ones that delivered after the weekend and it was Friday night/Saturday morning and i dont have a car there. I hope to be able to afford a cheap car to leave at the yard soon, but right now other things come first.
