I should be named live with it! I always try to get in here and tell the guys coming into the industry that we need to tell you to stay with it, I'm not sure you were with the same company for 30 years but that to has sticking power in staying with the same company, I want to just say, ride out the storm, there will be some rough roads you will have to go down, And I don't mean the roads we all travel all day everyday! You will run into the nay sayers that just hate life and everything in it including them selves, but you will and probably already know to just steer clear of them, they only drag a guy down to their level, But my point is Stick with the company that hies you out of school at least a year, If you get on with one of the not so goods, as long as the checks keep clearing the bank stick it out, and they don't threaten your life then stay with them a year, after the year with no incidents then you can chart your course, you will get lonely out on the road, it happens but with modern technology you can ease that as much as you need to.
Do you have a company in mind that you want to go to? May I suggest that you try Watkins and Shepard out? They have terminals all over the country and are pretty easy going you can see the threads here on the forum, No I don't work for them and no I'm not a recruiter I just know a few guys that started out there and then moved on after their tour of Duty! Good Luck, this forum will answer a lot of your questions if it doesn't then just post it up in the section where you think it will get answered, I have only been on here a little while but the wealth I have gained by learning from this group of professionals is Priceless!
