I drove for SNI for seven years in the mid-90s. Be ack then our dispatchers were called Service Team Leaders or "STLs". What does "DB" stand for?

Been a bit lazy lately about updating on here
Just trucking my self along! Think last time I updated was in GA and headed to Cali. When in Cali I took a day off and went (bobtailed) down to my former stomping grounds in Huntington Beach. Hung down by the beach where I use to frequent often, took a nice stroll and just relaxed.
They wanted $30 to park in the beach area so said nahhhh knew I could park across from the beach in the water reserve area for free just as long as I wasn't' spending night. If I was driving a car it normally is about $12 to park for the day. Anything over 30 feet long is $30 so.... whatever! I got to enjoy the fresh air and walked across the street to the beach and hung out. Beautiful there my favorite place to just BE!
From there grabbed a nice load to Phoenix AZ then went back to Sacramento area in CA, then on down to Fontana, then out to TX. From there did a short run in TX then up to Greenbay WI to get my truck PM and tune up done. Unfortunately my scheduling was messed up because I was arriving on Friday there about noon and that wasn't going to be enough time to get the work I wanted done because Fleet Service garage i wanted to use is closed on the weekends. Bummed me out! poor planning on my part.. Will have to try hit a Frieghtliner along the way here as soon as possible.
Had to keep moving so picked up a load out of Greenbay and went over to Cedar Falls IA. Deadheaded up to WI picked a load going to Brundidge AL. Deadheaded to LA Grange GA picked up and delivered that load here in Lexington NC where I am now! whew! Took a day off here and then tomorrow will pick up a load from the same place I delivered and take it to Del Rio TX. Nice long run to end my week with another good paycheck. Very thankful! Been some great runs last few weeks.
All of these loads except the one short run in TX was under 24,000 lb... Awesome!
Keep on keep-en on!Last edited: Sep 13, 2013

Off to a good start on this trip. Ran about 490 miles yesterday working my way south on I-85 down through SC, then GA (Atlanta wasn't to bad for a Friday afternoon, I was shocked), now in AL getting ready to hit the road again!
-
Now in Louisiana. Found a decent Petro with parking available last night, can you believe that! Anyway, knock down about 500 miles and should be getting to my delivery in Del Rio tomorrow as planned. Load Board is looking pretty weak for that area again and haven't found anything worth taking after this load is complete. Will see how it goes. Hoping to get back out west again so my options for just any load is limited a bit. However, I will take whatever I can if necessary to keep moving. Don't want to sit much but I usually like to give it a little time when trying get a load out of Laredo area just to see if I can get what I want. If not, will take the best load I can find.
Truck on! -
Delivered the Lexington NC load in Del Rio TX yesterday and as I figured nothing coming out of Del Rio so sat for a few hours monitoring the load board. Basically had 2 choices either deadhead to San Antonio or Laredo to get a load. Both about the same distance away.
None the less, a Laredo load going to Waterloo IA caught my eye and off I went deadhead to Laredo OC. While there last night talked to the shop guys about doing a PM on my truck and they were very thorough showing me a list of all the things they check and do. Beats TA or Petro PM by a trillion times better. So this morning took my truck in and had them do the PM. Another benefit having them do it is I' ll have all the work will be on file with SNI and they know what to look for to keep you in the good graces of the DOT. ..ie.. they notice I was missing 4 tire air valve caps and that could be a pretty hefty fine if DOT catches it. :smt102 Who knew! makes sense, but I didn't even know about that. After about 2 hours they were done, I grabbed my trailer (load) and off I went.
Now at Dallas OC a perfect stopping place long my route. Plus it was getting late and you & I both know finding parking in Dallas after 10pm probably not going be easy. So took the easy way and just landed at the OC. Still pretty packed in here, but plenty of spaces left.
After Waterloo, heading on down to Jackson TN, where I found my Westward load heading to Casa Grande AZ. All goes well will be there by Monday.
Roll on! -
The Midwest I think is very good. No matter where you are it's a challenge, but my experience in the Midwest is pretty good paying loads all around. -
In Missouri, again found parking at a flying J after 10 pm. Not the easiest parking available but got it done. Fixed myself a sandwich, little cottage cheese, chocolate for desert and off to bed. Got to watch a little late night TV before dozing off. Up now and should be taking off here in a couple of hours right after a shower, breakfast, short workout and my 10 hr break is complete. Need to get back on a early schedule, this running til 10/11 at night is getting old fast. No prob tho, after today should be able to get a early start tomorrow and be back on a normal schedule, which is running early morning 5am or 6am til about 5pm to 6pm. That's just my normal, others like driving at night. Just a preference of mind to run during day time as much as possible.
Will deliver this load today up in Iowa and then head on down to Tennessee!
Be safe!
