Just a heads up for all landstar guys/gals out there. Here is what agents are doing. Normally on a load they find they get a fixed percentage - like 7% or whatever and that is it. On a brokered load - CH, others, etc. they can get anything BEFORE they run the load through landstar. This is a real example: load paid 6k, driver booked the load for 3k. Driver found out the load paid 6k. Basically 3 grand was skimmed off the top before he got it. Also agents are booking freight with shippers that have bad credit. They call landstar and landstar says no, they don't have good credit so the agent will cover the load, skim off the top and then run it through landstar. This is what happens when they ask, "How much would you do the load for?" They have money to give out of what they skimmed off the top!
The agents are screwing us, we always knew brokers screwed us and the only liability any of these people has is NONE. A computer and that is it. They often make more than the driver after they skim. As you can see there is no incentive for them to go out and find new freight. Why for a lousy 7% or whatever when they can do broker freight and skim skim skim and still make the 7% PLUS what they skimmed. Landstar doesn't care because something is better than nothing.
Something needs to seriously be done about this. Contact your reps and somehow we need to get this stopped. I hate big government, but I hate this skimming shizzle more. We need a law that says the rate must be printed on the BOL. The only loads they can't skim are government loads.
Would you leave Landstar if they require you to get eobr?

if a guy is offered 3k for a load and accepts it and is happy with the rate, no one twisted his arm to accept that rate, how is that getting screwed?
the truck owner should know his costs and not accept a load if it doesnt meet his expectations of pay , pickup location, delivery area, etc. , if he then chooses the load, its on him.
if I get the rate I want, I don't care what anyone else makes as long as I make mine.
theats the problem with many o/o , they worry to much about what everyone else makes, instead of running their operation to the best of their abilitydhooks, Truck609, cetanediesel and 7 others Thank this. -
