I worked for Celadon from 2006 to 2012 and left cause when things got bad in 2009 i stuck with them and watched my miles go from my 2800-3150 down to 1800-2300 and that's where it stayed. I watched them take my bonus away cause they had to cut corners yet they repaved driveways that didn't necessarily need it and buy up new equipment and companies. I watched other companies put a freeze in hiring yet they didn't but couldnt keep all of us rolling.I watched as they went from a company that got me home when I wanted to a company that couldn't get me home on time with a months notice. I watched them get a southeastern account and tell me ( a Fl resident) that board was full with the drivers that came over with the purchase but that as more freight was established they would open the board to current employees yet they hired new people and forgot about those that stuck with them. I finally had to go when the ink on my short sale of my home was drying and after all the hard work i'd put into buying my home was for not and i was working homeless mostly cause i couldn't pay my car and house on the 1800-2300 miles i was begging for. So personally is say STAY AWAY FROM CELADON but that's just my personal feelings towards them. Sorry I've never worked for the other company so no advise on them. Good luck!
Celadon or Hirschbach

That's why they got the heck out of Nebraska and moved to their satellite terminal in East Dubuque, IL to get away from the NE DOT which had them targeted. They use to call us into safety if they found a log violation they would teach you how to falsify better and let you do it right in front of them. I never got so many inspections in my life and most from NE and IA who knew them. I'm at fault but they helped ruin my perfect 12 year clean record with their ways.
When they moved they lost all their good office people replacing them with inexperienced people. They didn't know heads from tails. With CSA2010 and some 4 years later they are now trying to do things the right way even though some habits are hard to break. They still play their games to be more profitable at a driver's expense. The new owner has a bad track record with other companies including bankruptcy and many problems lie in upper management that stayed. They need more people like TTR member Meltom to straighten them out.
One poster mentioned about not paying in insurance premiums. I can vouch for that. When I got sick and applied for my short and long term disability the insurance company never heard of me after paying premiums 3 years. You don't have a policy here. Huh? After a big ruckus surprisingly I was a new member at another insurance company that no employee knew of. That company tried to get me with a pre-existing condition even though I've been a 3 year paying employee. HML got me for several thousand but in the end I got it back. That's another story! They do need to fire that one they got working in MN as their human resource director for the owner's multiple companies. She's a sneak and a con and probably milking the company. The thought of embezzlement has crossed my mind. They also need to fire my last dispatcher if she is still there. She is a definite negative for the company. After finding her facebook page and a few hundred photos of getting drunk I understood her mental problems at work. I had a love/hate relationship with HML sort of speaking. I started with the old HML and got dragged through the new HML and all the confusion.
I lost track but today they are like anyone else.

Worth mentioning in regards to how the industry is hitting the bottom
I've noticed that since going to E logs companies have for the most part completely withdrawn any interest in drivers. The free ride that came along with paper logs and the accompanying coercion to intimidate drivers into running illegal have really turned the tables on these owners.
They don't look at us as a person who may be looking at work from a career standpoint, which i doubt they ever did, they see us as throw away labor, and take us for granted.
Harassment and abuse similar to what Ca Medicine Woman spoke of,
I've seen instances of harassment at the place I work( toward one girl in particular) that made me feel sick.
In time this will be their undoing.

Hirschbach. They have nice 2011-newer trucks with cool leather decoration (Cascadia) and 2012-newer air ride reefer trailers. Celedon, trucks with standard edition and spring ride trailers.
I would go Hirschbach cause I been there and drive their trucks. -
Ive seen Hirshbachs equipment,it is nice.Heard nothing but bad things about them. Why did you leave?I live 15 minutes from them and thinking about applying as a local driver. At least if I don't like them ,im only a few miles from them plus id be local not otr.

Right now, I'm co-truck driver with a driver that works there. When I'll start working there I'll buy my own truck as o/o.

Ya , but their safety guy is a major pain in the butt......Ha Ha......
Meltom Thanks this. -
It's not comfortable pulling trailer with spring suspension. It's like the trailer pulls you back.
