Beware any trucking company you work for that gives you a used truck have it thoroughly inspected! I had a friend/coworker that went to work for a trucking company after our company closed and he ended up in a hospital 2000 miles from home very sick and sores all over him. Found out the bunk was full of MOLD behind the liner. Stuck 4 days before he could fly home and company refused to pay for trip home and hospital bill. Alot of these big companies don't care about the drivers all they want is the freight moved and the money coming in.

####! That sucks.

wow. Sounds like a bottom feed move to me. One driver leaves, give his truck to the next chump to driver. Na, it doesn't need to be cleaned or have the mattress changed out or holes plugged up in the roof and floor boards.

What company?

You gotta be *@!Q$ me! All commercial drivers should ALWAYS take care, in everything they do in trucks. In fact, isn't that in a book somewhere? If anyone expects a company or a sales outfit to babysit them, and/or hold their hand, they're in the wrong business. I drove for a big company, and whenever I got a different truck, except for the 2013 Volvo I got with 34 miles on the odometer, I'd ask parts for a new mattress, get my bleach and ammonia, clean all surfaces, and do a real tough inspection before leaving the yard. It only takes a couple of hours, but you can feel OK about your safety and the future of your work effort. We all take care of ourselves. Like, this isn't a charity industry. Something is missing from the OP's story. If he did become ill from contracting a disease in the truck, the company would be open to a liability suit. So, why wouldn't they fly him home, or provide some emergency help to avoid that problem? Hmmmm...

Most companies will give you a used truck, until you prove yourself. It is the drivers job to inspect the equipment before use and have any issues addressed.

Usually the driver finds out real quick that this is not a good idea.......but there are exceptions to every rule.....
