Almost forgot, fell asleep at Ellenwood term, felt truck rock twice almost in la la land. Woke up in a haze didn't think much of it, then I hear more noise like someone is backing near me. Look again and the mirror was facing me and fender mirror showing a lot of the truck. This guy couldn't back to save his life, can't remember if he goal or not. Kept getting closer and closer sketching me out so I cranked my truck up so the air horn would work. Good thing I did bc b4 I knew it he was heading for it with the nose of the trl and his cab. Even with my mirror bent in I couldn't open my door to get out I told him this was unacceptable basically. He said he was dropping the trl. I said I didn't care and to move and when I calmed down I went to sleep. Didn't even apologize. Almost called in about it still thinking too considering the lack of skill he had for a straight line back. The space was big with space ahead. Maybe tired bc of 1 am but still you bump someone to hit a mirror no matter how minor apologize.

 

Agreed, but if we don't take the 10 hr break, lose the detention time and keep rolling guess who gets the service failure?

 

TA I-70 x 10 Ohio. Wanted to shower at the Plot, but that sucker was jammed full. Ended up at the TA with 15 mins left on 14. Getting harder and harder to find parking. Have to start looking with at least an hr left on the clock or get screwed it seems.

 

Last nite at home for a while, picking up a new student in Lakeland, FL in the morning. should take about 6 weeks/or 275hrs(drive hours)

Dixie/Pilot truck stop south of Bloomington, IL on I-55. Deliver later today in MO. Went through torrential rainstorm yesterday heading through Madison, WI area around dinnertime; it was like going through a car wash. Got the bugs off the windshield (and the rest of the truck) though!

 

Once snow flys people shut down even sooner. Seems like in the winter people park as soon as it gets dark.

 

Devils Elbow MO Road Ranger/Pilot. 567 mi to cons, 11 left on 70, plus need fuel in Effingham. Going to need some luck.

 

Shouldn't need to drive to the edge every day.

 

Ha -- learned an important lesson today: Check the pick-up date carefully on your Load Assignment.

I'd finished my delivery on the previous load and sent in my empty call. A few minutes later, in comes a load assignment. Cool, it's only a couple hours away and I've got just over four hours on my clock, can make the pickup, stay at the shipper overnight and head out first thing in the morning.

So I get to the shipper and give them the pick-up number. After a pause, they say well, that load isn't scheduled to be ready until 1800 on Sunday.

And sure enough, that's what the Load Assignment had said too. I'd just never been assigned a load that wasn't scheduled to be picked up until 48+ hours in the future!

The nearest truck stops are each about 55 miles away; too far to drive to and from. Guess I'll be spending the next 45+ hours here at the shipper. Fortunately they allow overnight parking and have very nice facilities; it could have been much worse.
