There was a scale at the shipper that turned out to be pretty accurate. I got on a CAT Scale about an hour away in North Platte to be sure.

Here's an idea if you're starting out on a tight load and want to save that 30 minute mandatory break. Use the 8/2 sleeper berth rule. Yesterday, I got rolling after doing my 8 hours in the sleeper. I had about 7 hours available and was planning on driving between 10 and 11 hours for the day. By driving more than 3 hours before taking my necessary 2 hour break, I satisfied both the 30 minute rule and the 2 hour rule at the same time.

I could have done it again today since the elogs said that I have 4:15 available now while I wait out my 10 hours.

I just discovered this little trick last week. Was running recap, which we almost never do, and did a lot of 8/2 splits. Now if I hit traffic somewhere, I think I'm going to pull over for a 2 hour nap so I don't have to waste time in traffic, and knock out the 30 minute waste of my 14.

Well THAT was fun. . . Got a load of cookie dough heading up to Centralia, Washington. I feel like one of those bass pros on TV saying, "This is where the big ones lurk!" I'm hoping for some kind of sexy beast of a run! Got to get up there first though, so adios.

a rider permit must be on file. Adult friends and family members are allowed. School age children only during normal school break times. And not sure what the minimum age is.
