I run 7 external drives. Note, in reference to a prior post for running an external drive, if you looked at the link,

You'll need an external hard drive that uses an eSATA connection. The following hard drive models are recommended:

    • Western Digital 500GB (model WDG1S5000)
    • Western Digital 1TB (model WDG1S10000)
    • Seagate 1TB (model ST31000SCA109-RK)
    • Seagate 500GB (model ST30500SCA109-RK)

all drives are sata these days. there's not much of the old ide connection anymore.

one end of the drive is sata. the other end is usb. for those that plug into such ports.

you can buy the older ide connections though. and an adapter that allows to plug into usb ports. if you still have the older drives that are still functional.

Atlas that is one issue I have. An old laptop with IDE. Still looking for an external case that will allow IDE to USB.

It's just a one time equipment purchase and now I can stream off my DVR anywhere I have wifi or download onto my laptop/ipad to watch shows while not on a wifi network. Sounds like a winner to me!

Dish Hopper has this, built in Sling box and a conversion to download to separate device.

You could download it to your cell phone hard drive and connect a micro HDMI to your TV.

Many ways you can do this but Dish has what you want.
