Probably every driver has bumped something at one time or another, but didn't call it in. There's a big difference between and accident and an incident. You only hurt your own career if you report every little detail, a little yellow paint from rubbing a post or running over a hedge, where a hedge shouldn't be anyway. For example, I know a driver that took out about 3 blocks of cable TV line in an old section of a city. He did the smart thing, pulled up on the ramp to the interstate, removed the cable & kept on trucking. Don't cut your own throat over some small incident.

I am just gonna say it like I feel... Your post annoyed me.. for one, it is not over confidence.. it is carelessness, irresponsibleness and ungratefulness... Don't blame it on being sent to NYC, or being new, or no one there to guide you..

When I was out pulling flatbed and green as could be.. this was only the 2nd load we ever delivered.. well, while he was training me.. we were dropping off at some way out in the boonies country hardwar and feed lot store.. and when we pulled up I was driving and could see it was a tricky one to back into.. so, I ask if be is gonna do it.. he said no, so I asked if he was gonna guide me, he said nope.. so I asked for any pointers.. he said.. don't bit anything, keep out of the ditch, and don't #### ## his truck.. great.

Well, I lost count of how many times I had to stop and get out of the truck and walk around it.. see how close I was to the sign, to this or that, I had to pull forward and reset many times.. finally I got it.. and I got ready to get ripped and sneered at by him and two other flatbdrivers that watched me struggle with i

To my amazement.. they told me good job.. I thought they were kidding..
ause they could do it better and faster.. not need to get out as much as I did..

That is when they explained that they have experience.. the point is, I didnt hit anything or go in the ditch.. so K did a good job and will get better and faster.. but, most importantly safely...

If I would have had to team for 6 months before going solo, that would have been a deal breaker for me. I had a tough time after week 2 of 4.5 sleeping while the truck was moving. So I could never team. Plus living with a stranger in a jail cell, no way. I really dont know how people work for CRST, where they team only.

    good enough right there ;)

Yeah accidents do happen to some but they are preventable, I see people all the time that hit things, they never GOAL or anything. Watched a guy back into a trailer just a few minutes ago at our terminal im sitting at, he just took off.

I do agree with the person who said dont report every little thing though, if its minor then why would you want to report? A lot of people have scraped something or hit something but didnt cause damage. I had a guy hit my trailer once and I didnt report him, we both looked and there was a small scrape and it was an old trailer with plenty of damage all over it. But the biggest thing is safety like someone said, get your bass out and look if you dont know where your trailer is going. I had a blind yesterday that I got out several times to make sure....

Cant say it was brilliant but I still think it was better than hitting the car that sped up to get around me
