DUI with my CDL

My Plan is to keep driving even if they take my license my point is if I keep my mouth shut how would they find out. I know people without a CDL who have done this without there employers finding out of course they didn't have a CDL. Will DOT inform my employer or motor vehicle?

All i been through during this over regulated CDL B/S,I kept my mouth shut and kept working...It will catch up to you at some point but just PLAY DUMB and DUMBER..
Stay working,make money and wait for that day..Not to mention you are Innocent until ''FOUND'' guilty..So you have done nothing wrong and you are still a free man...Chinatown Thanks this. -
i'm surprised they didn't take your license away. like they normally do. cuz when you go to work on the first day. your employer gets a copy of your license and med card.
also, taking a chance on driving on a alcohol suspended license. sounds pretty dumb. specially if you get caught. to which your employer WILL find out.
insurance companies run a check at the beginning of every year. on EVERY driver. i've had to sign a form every year for every company i've worked for. since i've had my cdl.
your best bet would be to think about a new job in a different profession. cuz you won't even be able to drive your own car for awhile. -
Sorry to be a jerk about this, but you made the choice and it bit you in the rear. I will not drive after a drink period! Its not worth my families livelyhood. Continuing to drive w/o a cdl is just as bad. If you have an accident you will be sued to deatg by everyone, as well as youre carrier getting sued an possibly shut down. So because of your dumb decision you could potentially ruin your co workers jobs, plus anyone else if you have a wreck. You should have had discipline, and done the right thing. People with your mindset keep our insurance rates up and give tbe fmcsa ammo to regulate us more.

If a lawyer can help you retain your CDL, you will still find work with some company. Your present company will probably fire you when they find out within 12 months. Start making a list of "second chance" companies as a backup. Maybe start a new thread on "Experienced Drivers" forum asking for names of "second chance" companies.

I don't see how working off a 1099 will matter?????? Whom Evers truck he's driving the person who owns it will still have to insure him. Bad situation.

If i had this TTR back years ago and listened to all of this,i would NOT be driving today.
Trucking has Pedophiles,People that robbed banks,Drug Addicts,Hookers,People that comitted Homicide and People that are on heavy anti pschotic meds.The list is endless with the type of people it attracts and the crimes they have comitted....Trucking has every single walk of life,driving a truck..

Carriers are required to pull an annual MVR. You can be sure that either the carrier or insurance company will find out once the conviction goes down. Once the conviction hits your MVR you will lose your position. Carriers cannot keep drivers that they cannot insure. Most insurance companies won't insure anyone who has a recent DUI. You could probably continue working until you are convicted. If you are not convicted, then it may be a non issue. DUI's and implied consent laws are huge profit makers for states and the legal profession. If I were you I would get a good lawyer, as others have suggested. Without having the charge changed or dismissed, your career will suffer. Whether a company pays on a 1099 or W2 makes no difference when it comes to being able to insure a driver. Some carriers won't hire a driver who has ever had a DUI. Others will hire you after anywhere from 5-10 years have passed without incident. It also doesn't make any difference whether the DUI was in a commercial vehicle or personal car. Both go on your CDL. At one time any traffic violations received in a personal vehicle was hidden from anyone checking your CDL. G W Bush changed that when he was president. Lawyers are expensive, but not being able to earn a living is even more costly. In many states a DUI is worse than drug trafficking.
