After 5 years of fighting with 12v refrigerators, plugin coolers, etc,...I have resorted to using a big cooler with 2 small trash cans inside it at the center. One can inside the other. The inner trash can holds the ice/water as it melts, and the outer can holds all the goods in place while I dump the inner can out once every couple days. I use Pilot points to get the ice, so basicly the ice is free. Everything in the cooler stays dry as well. I keep TV dinners, soda, lunch meat, cheese, flatbread and pita-bread, mayo, milk for cerial, and candy bars in there.

very smart. I've been wondering what I was going to do when I go out. I think I just found my answer. Thank you so much. I'm going to make up a few dinners at home and maybe freeze some rice and noodles to take along with me. (it'll keep for a few days after it thaws) but you just solved my refrigerator dilemma. I know I will sure take a lot of tuna fish and crackers out on the road. That's about the only canned food I like to eat. That and kipper snacks. Thought about lunch meat. wondered about mayo. how long do your tv dinners stay frozen?

Don't forget canned chicken. If you carry a microwave as well, toss canned chicken into a noodle or rice dish. Pretty good meal for $3.

you don't have to refrigerate any of these things either,...

    summer-sausage
    mustard
lime juice in the little green plastic bottles
    pickled eggs, etc.

slice the summer-sausage and make summer-sausage and mustard sandwiches.

water with some sweet-n-low and lime juice makes great lime-aide. good to help reduce allergy symptoms too.

just some things I do on my truck,...Rawze

I've had the best luck with the Koolatron P25, and I tried a few others before that. I recommend cutting off the cigar plug. Wire it to the cb studs or direct, I have had problems with some with the cigar plug, it loses contact and can cause troubles.

I buy the Bumble Bee tuna salad that comes in the box with the crackers and little spoon. I spoon it onto bread and make sandwiches. One can makes 2 sandwiches. $1.25 a box at Wal Mart and .99 at the commissary on base.

I cook almost every meal on the truck. here is a link to the fridge I have:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...N=B00BH34BEK&linkCode=as2&tag=lifofamodtru-20
It is a little large, but I find that I use all the space. There are smaller ones. The 12v coolers have an average life of about 6 months, so unless you want to replace it twice a year, I would stay away. If you would like any more advice on cooking on the truck, let me know.

    cr62269 Thanks this.
