I'm looking to go to OTC for training and get a job with a company that's based, or at least has a terminal in Springfield and surrounding areas.
Just looking for opinions who would be good to work for.
Not interested in Prime, but if you can make a REALLY good case for it, be my guest.
Some I've noticed are TCSI-Transland, Trailiner, RBX, Milky Way, EPCO and several others on the employment partners sheet from OTC. Some of these don't advertise hiring recent grads, but if they're on the list, I don't suppose it would hurt to ask.

We have a terminal in Springfield and offer training. Drive4ozark.com has a little more info. BTW I live about 90 miles east of springfield and get home every other weekend.

Prime is a good choice, and I'm sure Ozark is as well. Usually these "which one do you recommend" posts degenerates into a food fight over which carrier is best based on innuendo, truck stop BS, and out-and-out untruth by folks who have never driven for the carriers they are dragging through the mud.

Try this... design what you would think to be your perfect job in driving. WRITE down (that part's important, because as long as it's in your head it's a moving target) your requirements. Then call all of the carriers in the area, and ask the recruiters some pointed questions. WRITE all of this down, and compare which carrier comes closest to your ideal.

Next, find in the TTR forum where the drivers who actually work for that carrier are chatting about things that go on at that carrier. Not the "Bad Company" forum... only the malcontents post there. You want the folks who are actually driving and making a living at the carrier. Many folks have started "20-threads" - what's your 10-20 or location, and chat about what is going on in their daily lives. See what those folks are posting about. Ask THEM some questions on the forum. Then make your choice.

Is Wichita Kansas within or outside the hiring area of Ozark trucking?

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Are you going to move to springfiled? I used to work for trailiner, they were a good company when i was there but thats been years. They went from springfield to cali then load produce and back to the east and then do it all over again, you could be by the house 2 times a week if you live around springfield.

Thanks for the pointers. Yeah, the Bad Company forum looks like a venting station mostly.
I'm having trouble finding good, recent info on some of these smaller companies.
As for Prime, they do sound okay, but their structure and way of doing things didn't appeal to me as much as other companies I've looked in to.

We're moving "back home", so to speak. We're from the general area.
Trailiner is one company that stood out. They have jobs posted on Indeed quite a bit. Regional to the Ohio Valley and back and down south as well. Supposedly can be back in Springfield every couple of days. Sounds interesting.

I think that is probably outside the hiring area. I haven't ever run there so im not positive if we even go there.

Con-Way is out of Joplin, MO. Not far from Springfield.

TMC has a terminal in Joplin. I live in southeast MO and get home every weekend, with the occasional exception since it is the trucking industry.
