1. 55- You must be driving OR and CA often
2.Floating gear is a given, they just dont teach you that at the schools.
3.Coasting? If you pull out of gear to coast uphill, how do you get it back in gear without grinding much less finding it? Never tried this.
4. Not Idling just so you can hear the lizards knock. Dam, are you looking for company? Thought not idling was to save fuel. Didnt think it was to let the lizards know your in need. I dont think the lizards want sweaty huevos anyway but I could be wrong on this.
5. 12-13.5 is good.
6 and 7 is scientific. never did the research.
Bottom line, gear up at a lower rpm. Use cruise and stay out of the high 60s. I get high 7 barely trying.
what have you guys done to become more fuel efficient

Floating is NOT illegal...and coasting is not ONLY illegal....it's dangerous....your trucking trainer guru taught you some bad habits. Most of us FLOAT...nothing new or illegal here....but coasting tears up alot of equipment, countryside and can get you or someone else killed....you probably need to cease this bad habit or atleast quit recommending it to others to save fuel.....what have you gained if you save 1/10 of a gallon of fuel, but run over someone because you couldn't stop or get it back into gear?DoneYourWay Thanks this. -

Ahhh, saving fuel and your way of saving fuel is coast down hill which you have to do first to coast uphill right. If your coasting through a neighborhood at 90 you learned well grasshopper. I will stop and lend you my fire extinguisher to put out the dumbness
