I feel left out. All I have here at the receiver in beautiful downtown Port Huron, Michigan, is pretty heavy rain. Warm rain.

Alas, fear not, snow lovers. Our days of lake effect snow start soon enough.

Wow, one totally delusional dude right there.
The passive-aggressive "you are not important to me" is hilarious from the guy who continues to troll Josephs thread. Comedy is not dead

Hey, lol, I like working here. Always have miles and good insurance and a great truck. I make decent money as well. Tow and most others as doing just as well here. Sure. They're a "mega". But don't follow the "mega" rules. They actually care a little about their drivers.

Good to hear you still are doing good. I have left my last company and picked a new lane. I will do produce runs to Alaska. I got all my orientation stuff this week out of the way. Looks like I will head out Monday. I am not sure if I will head straight North or have to go South to pick up a load and then run it all the way to Alaska. Seems like my timing could not have been better. :biggrin_2552: I do will miss my brand new 780 Volvo. I ended up with a 387 Pete with a C-13 and a 13 speed. I forgot to look at the HP rating, but the jake seems pretty weak just the couple bob tail runs I have done around town made me miss the Volvo's engine break for sure. Better slow down quite a bit in the hills and look for low gears before I bob sled of into the wild.

My home state. I would love such a job. Enjoy the Alaskan Highway and the sights you will see. Just be very, very careful. Stay alert. Always. You do not want to have a "mishap" that far from pretty much every other living creature...except the one you hit.

I am one of those guys who gathers all the information he can and processes all of it internally to make a decision. For the past few months, I've been evaluating trucking companies that fit my requirements: good, fair lease; APU with either an inverter installed or they will install one if I buy it; good maintenance numbers (this one is subjective); true 48-state OTR; good training program (though I am not a rookie, my previous life was all about training, so it's critical for me); and probably most important (and definitely most subjective) good words from current employees, whether company or L/O. Gordon has done well in the game and will probably be one of the finalists. Heck, I even appreciate Victor's input, though I'm not really sure how he rolls. I like GTI's approach to leasing -- there is some buy-in by the employee and some evaluation of creditworthiness by the company. I like that; I'm leery of companies that push 'no-money-down, no-credit-check' leases on beginners. They can succeed, but it is difficult and rare.

There are two other companies getting my assessment and I'm not really sure how I'm going to pick between them when it comes right down to it. It might be as simple as reading how trucks handle the winter weather or the color or an experience I have with another driver out on the road or whether my daughters see them or not in the Lawton area or...well, pretty much anything.

Time will tell. I don't like being rushed.

Who did you go with? Fairchild? I've always wanted to go to Alaska. When you go I better see pictures. Or hell pick me up!

It's good to see that you're actually doing it the right way. Too many drivers just jump in and then that's why they fail. Good on you and good luck. Of course I'm biased towards Gordon (they do sign my checks) but you gotta do what makes you comfortable.
