I call b.s. on most of that , I really don't want to defend melton when they can take care of their own problems but what your saying isn't true. They pay one of the highest cpm.'s , I have looked , and couldn't find a higher/comparable one. I don't believe for one second the load planners know who they are giving the loads too , they have truck numbers and locations of loads and they do square peg in the round hole all day long. Trust me on this , I have seen far too many good loads go to guys with tons of miles and vice versa the next week . It literally never makes sense - best thing to do is smash your brain with a stick . I have come off hometime many times now and burned up a 70 and then recapped for days and then I have piddled around for a few weeks ( like this last week 2200 miles ).
Solution to low miles is just smash smash smash cause you can talk to whomever it wont make a difference.
It would be very insulting to experienced drivers for them to pay students the same as experienced flatbedders so they pay them like students , almost any motivated driver can be up to 42 cpm in about 13 months , I can testify to that , I started at 34 and hit 42 next month , thats 13 months. Right now they just want to expand the fleet , thats all and they are trying to the best of their ability to keep the company in good shape but obvious problems are happening besides the normal occurences from the old drivers which still scratch trucks and get tickets .

p.s. how is that reassignment surgery coming Noggin ? I'm not judging just asking.

Cannon, if I may ask, why did they start you at 34 CPM?

I don't know if I'd do flatbed for 34. Also, I'm wondering why they started me at 42. I had zero flatbed experience. 1.5 years OTR but that was all dry van.

The only thing that I can come up with is that they started some at a higher rate so they could hire more at a lower rate and still be in the top 5% for pay. (1% now)

It's based strictly off for o.t.r. exp., and I didn't want to drive van or refer for. I drove van statewide in AZ for 3 years but that doesn't count as o.t.r., I originally went o.th.r. for better local job prospects but I kind of like it now.

If I may, what do you think you're worth? I'd certainly accept 42! I probably would have started at 38 if that's what Melton offered me. Less than that and I may still have started, but only for the flatbed experience to get me into another company.
