There is always a thread or two by someone who says they were lied to by this person or that person in this industry. They weren't necessarily lied to, they just did not understand what was being said.

Your looking to make a career change or start a career, do you not think its important to do your research and ask questions. You need to focus on pay, home time, equipment, lanes of freight, customer base, accidents and what it will cost you out of pocket for a deductible, type of equipment. Get to understand the company and the basis for going to work there.

What does this have to do with clutches? Um yea, a new driver is responsible for learning to drive safely regardless of who told them what. Whats your point?

I do agree with you.. but, I also feel that individuals need to hold themselves more accountable for the choices they make in life..
Yeah.. my start into trucking was a bumpy one.. but rather then playing the victim.card and passing blam.. I looked at my part it in.. what I could of and should of done different... More research and questions... Don't let thebpromise of my own big shiny truck distract me from common sense...

Then, I took what I learned and mapped a better path and restart into trucking...

One of the most important things I was ever taught.. no one can trick me or doop me without my consent...

I understand what you are saying miles and miles but if a person knows nothing about an industry, then they really don't have a chance of asking intelligent or informative questions. Quite often their only source of information is the recruiter and we know what they tell the recruits. Add to that the fact that many recruits are broke and looking to grab any life line and you end up with alot of disillusioned people.
A prospective driver would do well to read this forum for a few months before jumping in. Then at least, they would have heard both sides and have a better chance of being successful.
its too bad that there isn't a program to allow an interested person to drive along for a month so they could get a taste of the real world. Of course, not in my truck!!!

Wow.. that would be a game changer for many.. if they actually went out on the road for a week to see what it is like..

I did have that opportunity when I was young I went out with a family friend a few times.. and I went out again for a two week run just before going into truck driivischool.. I was already planning on going to school and had already paid for it.. so, I just did it because I had the opportunity to..

I totally agree that people should research and learn more about the industry before they make the jump... But, the sad truth is.. many New drivers were just looking for work and saw some ad promising them a great career and all...and just jumped in.. sometimes it scary to me how little for thought people put into important decisions... and how they will sign contract and not really know what they are signing..

You are expecting or just hoping for more from the type of person that walks over to me, with a map in his hand showing where to park at the shipper and where the office is, and asks me where he should go?

Exactly people,do your homework on companies.Don't be lazy and depend on others to hold your hand while they do your homework. That would tell me you're not ready for this industry.

Usually when you slow down enough (coming to a stop), you can pop it out of gear without using the clutch
