I am glad you brought this up. I am a one man one truck one trailer operation and my new entrant audit is a month away and the log books I have been using don't have inspection reports on them.
One truck, one trailer, NO DVIR!

You still MUST LOG IT and account for the time as on duty. You just dont need to fill out the bottom section if there are no defects. You still must accoutn the time for it though on line 4.
DVIR is Driver Vehical Inspection Report. This has to do with the report on the bottom of the log, not anything to do with the time on line 4. -
Cool story bro, I go from off duty to driving when I get in my truck, and drive away.truckon Thanks this.

Yea, and that's illegal. The rule doesn't say aything about time logged, it just talks about the report. All time spent inspecting or working on your truck should be logged as on duty. (if done by you) Id like to see you get a level 1 with your log showing no pti's.
-
So you see here, I am one of those super lucky basstards that has never gotten a "level 1" inspection. You guys need to learn to be super stealth trucker like me. I know you guys are all envious and want to know how to do it, just dont jam my inbox up.
-
Careful there Cetaine, you just might get your inbox jammed up, but I won't say where you may get it jammed up, cause that would get me in trouble!
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Cetane+ is right.
-
Don't you just have to log a "post trip inspection," rather than a "pre trip?"
-
if you think so, then find proof saying you don't need to go on duty for it.
-
I really couldn't care less if you want to keep doing it your way, you seem sure your always right.Cetane+ Thanks this.
