Delivered in Dickinson, ND this morning. Man that place is boomtown -- new buildings and roads springing up all over the place.

Currently at a truckstop in Bismarck while they try and find me a load back to civilization. :)

In my experience the mechanics at Roehl have been pretty decent. I think they get a little more turn over in places like Gary, but I've had excellent service in Marshfield and Kaukauna which is now the Appleton/Neenah terminal.

    Prostar Comments anyone?
I have a 2013 International Prostar. So far I mostly like it as it is waaaay better than the old 2004 Freightliner with air ride front suspension that I used to have.

    • Nice and quiet (for a truck).
    • Big side windows in the bunk (helpful for blind backing).
    • Bunk windows are very easy to open and close.
    • mirrors adjustable with a switch inside the cab.
    • Heated mirrors (great for foggy/frosty mornings)
    • way smoother ride than the Freight Shaker.
    • Easy step running boards.
    • one piece windshield.
    • lots of storage.
    • Dashboard kingpin release.
    • Three position Jake brake.

So it's mostly a pretty decent truck, as far as company issued trucks go...

But there are a few things that annoy me:

    • 4 way switch on the steering column, like a car, that doesn't cancel with the turn signal (have to stick your hand through or go around the steering wheel).
    • Windshield washer on the turn signal lever, again this isn't a car!! When pushing on it while driving it is difficult to hold it in without turning on the blinker.
    • And how bout that tiny air horn button on the steering wheel, definitely not very handy.

I also have an EPU (not necessarily Prostar specific )which will not hold a charge for 10 hours like they told me it would. The automatic idle started 4 times one night when I needed the bunk heater on.

Overall I like the truck. It's a bit of a step down from the 387 Peterbilt that I last drove but a huge step up from the Freightliner.

I hear the newly reconditioned terminal in Gary is pretty nice.

I think the reason I can't wear contact lenses any more is from too many nights in Gary. Every morning when getting up my eyes felt like someone threw cement in them and the dust covered everything in the truck.
