    1. Did the Wi-Fi work before and now it will not work?
    2. What is your Wi-Fi hotspot?
    3. Does it show up in your HotSpot listing on the 720?
    4. Does it show connected on the 720?
    5. Routing - are you in Prefer or Allow Freeways?

Allow tends to stay more on US routes - Better for West of the Big River.
Prefer tends to stay more on Freeways - Better for East of the Big River.

    Thanks,
    Mark

In Shortest yes it does take you on Non-STAA routes. This is being addressed in the way the routers look at the settings.

    Thanks,

WiFi worked before. I use my Verizon phone. It used to pick up all WiFi around now it doesn't pick up anything. My phone is WPA2 encrypted but rand doesn't provide a way to enter encryption keys so I have to insecure my phone which is fine but it still doesn't pick it up. I always have my GPS set to allow, and to take the fastest route. I always figured it would always route the fastest route regardless of set allow or prefer. Sometimes it tries to send me on country roads that have weight restrictions or prohibited to CMV's and then I have to set it to avoid small roads for a portion of the trip. I think there should be a way to set multiple options such as avoid freeways and small roads etc. Also one time I tried the avoid freeway part and it tries to send me on a crap load of local highways while on a US highway. In which case I wouldn't exactly call a US highway a freeway even I'd its an arterial designed road.

    The 520/720 is WPA2 Encrypted.

Are you shut down now? If so, I can give you my phone number so we can walk thru this.

    Thanks,
    Mark

My wife likes to say you have to be 10% smarter than the thing you're trying to operate. But I always say, mostly you just have to remember to plug it in.

I thought it it was plugged in for a few hours, but the plug likes to come loose from the dash board and that may be why it took longer to charge (May have only had intermittent contact).

Next time at Wendy's get a fork. Break one of the tangs off. Slide it between the DC connector and the DC Plug. You may need 2. This does keep it in tighter.

    Thanks,

I had a 510 for a few years and it still works. But I wanted a new one so I picked up the 720 today, and so far so good. But from reading the posts here I'm a bit worried about the first update. I hope it still works after that. From looking at all the posts makes me wonder why so many are having problems with Rand. I'll be updating this weekend and if I have problems with it, it will get returned and my old one will go back up. Wish me luck. LOL

Mark I have a question about my new 720. Why does it want to route me the long way at times. I'm at the petro in Fargo and it wants me to take a tour instead of just getting back on the I-94 to the I-29. I have to deliver in the Winnipeg yard tomorrow and it has me driving trough the city to get there. My old 510 did some strange things but not like that. Can you shed some light on this? Thanks

    It's set on fastest route

    Allow or Prefer freeways?

    If Allow, set to Prefer.

If this does not resolve the issue, let me know the stop point so I can test here.

    Thanks,
    Mark
