So I'm passing a truck last week, and when I come alongside, the driver has the side curtain pulled across the window all the way to the windshield. Ok, I get it. Not particularly safe, but the sun is coming in from that side. A couple of days later, I saw this again - on an overcast day.
What's up with this? Anyone else seen this going on?
Anyone else seen this 'trend'?

Some drivers are so ugly they don't want to be seen.
I agree it's not safe and have seen it a few times. You see anything and everything on the road. -
Noticed that on the I-5 a lot lately, have no idea why.
-
Not the side curtain, but I saw one driver had one of those pull down shades with the suction cup mounts on his drivers window so you couldn't see what he was doing, I guess they are driving and using a cell phone and dont want anyone seeing them.

Its the new coolest way to guide freight down the road. Ads a little excitement when you cant see out your window or look at your mirrors.
Truckergirl0720 and chalupa Thank this. -
I guarantee you there will be a driver that never even thought about closing his curtain. But the fact he seen someone else get away with it he will do it. Like you said a trend... monkey see monkey do.

I tried to keep my cab privacy curtains closed and drive. Figured as long as I followed my GPS I'd be ok.
blairandgretchen, vikingswen, crb and 14 others Thank this. -
4 wheelers do this on the passenger side all the time during the day.
I hang up my coat by the driver side window @ night.
Helps keep it more clear from steam etc...

Keeps my eyeballs fresh from that left lane riding person with their high beams on. -
Not legal I would imagine either and very unsafe, just think of the blindspot.
blairandgretchen and CondoCruiser Thank this. -
If you're on a wide open interstate for miles and miles, in the same lane with cruise control on, I could possibly understand blocking your side views to keep the sun out. For city, winding and mountain roads though, it wouldn't do it. Plus it's probably illegal in a place like California. Everything else is anyway...
