Gone are the days of running multiple books and phantom partners.

This just goes to prove what I've thought for some time about this place, that these guys give safety little more than a handy and their business model is built around getting it done at all costs.

Personally if I was on the other side of the desk and a driver thought is was ok to run illegally if the "load had to get there"that wouldve shocked me. Not the other way around.

That's one reason that I like elogs. There is no pressure to pencil-whip the book. The other reason is that I can't draw a straight line!

Ran to Salina, UT today and got parked with 4 minutes left on the book. It is windy throughout the west and Colorado and Utah seemed to be leading the way. I still managed 6.0 mpg and I'm happy with that. I pushed harder than normal to make it here and I could see the mileage go down. I was looking for a nice windshield-cleansing rain today and I finally got it after I finished dinner and had a long slog back to the truck!

That leaves me with 560 miles to go on this trip. I pick up 9:07 tomorrow, so it looks like I have a choice of Barstow, Hesperia, or maybe the Colton drop yard for tomorrow. Once I'm empty in El Monte, I don't care if they dispatch me right away or not. I've driven 12,417 miles this month (not all paid, of course). My running total for the last seven days is 3,407 miles. So unless they come up with a Florida load with an extra day built in, I would be very happy to have a short day Wednesday to recharge!

Since I started this thread back in July, we've had several readers make the jump over to JCT. I'm really happy to see them all doing so well, especially Soule_Man and CapeBuffalo. I talk with them almost every day, and while they both brought over plenty of driving talent, it's been fun for me to help them learn the JCT ropes and become successful lease operators. I've learned a lot from helping them out too. WTG guys!

Sharpp there is parking at Safeway in El Momte. After hearing how your mileage was brutalized I am feeling much better about mine with all the wind I had today. I empty tomorrow in Stockton then I have 3 picks on my way back south then off to Austell, Ga.

Yeah, I was hoping to limp into the Safeway parking. But with 560 miles to go and only 547 minutes I'll have climb these hills a little faster!

Are you guys catching your resets mostly on the road or do you try to get through the house under load for that?

Also I noticed a few JCT truck up in the Hades of NJ. A Pete, KW and an evo. I think it was an evo as it was going the other way.

Personally I prefer to run out of hours as quickly as I can then take my 34 reset under the load. Under best case scenario I can pick up as much as 22 hours extra a month for potential earnings. And the other benefit is if I get unloaded right after completing a reset and the guy next to me hobbles in on his recap, I have 60 plus hours and he has maybe 9???? Who is easier for the planner to plan the long load on?

Lady K, Night Prowler and BJnobear Thank this.

One of the nicest things about long drives is the chance to put mental things in order. I think my decision isn't so much about which company or whether to lease or not, but whether I want to commit to 3-5 more years of working "in retirement." It's a much bigger dilemma.

    That's what I was thinking.

I know its random OTR but if I can fall into a routine of getting to the south east then up to NJ or PA, and like you said Terry, reset then deliver followed up by a long run west to start working east again.

This way I can get through the house every 2-3wks for 34-48hrs and keep moving.
