Well this is good to know. Keeps me from getting a double whammy. If I have to stay there then I will probably use that as one of my restaurant meals, if not getting fuel, as that and the reserve fee will easily pass the $20 point.

When I drove for Marten I could get fuel at any TS in their book, whenever I decided it was time to fuel, like at the end of my day when it made the most sense. However, now that I'm back with Roehl, they decide when and where I get fuel and take away any control that I could have had to minimize my expenses/time management. :banghead:

Yeah that's one thing I don't miss about roehl. My current company allows us to get fuel wherever we want. We also take whatever route we want.

Only thing I miss about roehl is the sliding home time scale

I would rather pay to park at a petro or t/a than park for free at a love's !!! but then again I will pay a fuel truck to come to me before I fuel at love's !!!

Reservation line saved me again :) in California been waiting to get unloaded for a while now and the only 2 truck stops ANYWHERE outside of LA is the Petro or the TA. Called the reservation line, they had just a couple spots left. Paid my $12, and now I have a spot whenever I get outta here. Otherwise they are totally full with no spots available. Would have to pay $20 anyways, so why not spend $12 of it for a guaranteed place ;)

I know of a couple of safe spots in Ontario
Never had a problem finding a spot at ta there. Even 2am.

I heard a rumor, that one of the ta's there has rebranded into a petro

Remember, no one is forced to pay for a spot! At busy truck stops at 3am even if there were no reserve parking those spots would be filled. I like being able to call ahead and make sure I got a parking spot if needed late at night.

My biggest spiff with the reserved parking is the number of spots some places are taking up. The Baytown, TX T/A has about 50 reserved parking spots, to me this is too many! To me it would be fare to use up to 10% of the parking available as reserved parking but no more then that, after all, if 50% is reserved parking you might as well charge everyone for parking like they do out in Ontario, CA.

I voiced my concerns one day as I was making a reservation. The lady I spoke to said the reason we can not use points to pay for the parking is that some states charge a motel tax for reserved parking. She also said that others have complained about too many parking spaces being taken up also. I assume this will all get addressed by upper management in the future.

A motel tax. That's a lame excuse. You still pay sales tax with points when purchasing merchandise so why would a motel tax be any different?

My sentiments exactly... and why I started the thread. Seeing fully 1/3 of the Roanoke,VA lot empty at 3AM for "reserved spaces" sure seemed like a shakedown to me.
