That was what i was getting with the ISX....around 6.5 to 6.8 and running 75+
When they had them castrated at 65 and the horsepower cut back i was getting 5.8 at best.

The boss was amazed after a little tuning on the ECM and letting them run actually increased fuel mileage.
This was a 2011 EGR engine too....

    I'm moving into a 2014 later this week with a DD-15.
I wonder what kind of mileage it will get with the DEF engine.

txrep if you are from the Great Country oops I meant State of Texas, particularly Dallas, check out craigslistjobs, you will find many smaller truck companies and individual owner operators whose trucks are wide open! But ask yourself, is this the route I really want to go? It is hit or miss with some of those guys. One or two may be fair to good, the other twenty may make you wish you had applied to Schneider or Metropolitan (62mph)! Aim High, btw: and if you find one (off craigslist) and you end up staying longer than 1.5-3 months; and you are enthusiastic and overjoyed about being there please let me know.

An easier way to put it is this. For every single mile per hour over 55 mph, you are losing 1/10 of a mile per gallon. So, the difference between 55 mph and 65 mph is really 100%!!! The slower drivers, are actually making more money, that is if they are working for the right company. Honestly, if you are a disciplined driver, and can drive 55-60 the whole way, you should be a lease or owner operator, and getting paid a certain amount of percentage. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? The tortoise ended up winning, and the companies/drivers that show discipline are winning as well and will continue to do so.

If you drive it right, it should get 8 to 9.5 mpg, depending on if you have an APU on your truck that is.
