That's why you should never team drive when training. Also, you can play the messages on the qualcomm over the speakers, you don't have to stop and read it. Trainer was worthless if you ask me.

What the heck is wrong with the dispatch at Swift. If they don't answer the
Qualcom in an emergecy they should call the driver on there cell phone. -
When I was a trainer, my rule was for the trainee to put his pillow on the driver seat so I couldn't miss it if he chose to get out. I always looked back as well to make sure. That being said...weather its your turn to drive or not, you should never drive tired and of your seeing horses that arn't there you need to pull over.
Arkansas Frost Thanks this. -
Mine never gave me backing practice. He would take over after 30 seconds if i didn't get it done. Some trainers are just idiots, and there is not excuse for leaving a person behind.hauler881 Thanks this.

Bet you didn't let it happen twice !!!

Trainer should have made sure you were ON the truck.
But you also should have made sure she KNEW you were OFF the truck also.hauler881 Thanks this. -
Why am I having trouble believing this?
OH! I know!!!!
Swift hasn't had "trainers" since 1998....they call them "MENTORS"!!!!!Truckergirl0720 Thanks this. -
I can understand trying to back into a dock from a busy small street that needs to be done quickly before traffic gets out of hand, but when your at drop yards and warehouses, there is no excuse, should be getting backing up practice daily. Just demand it from your trainer, and don't put up with any control freak excuses why they have to do it.
And your right, no excuse for leaving a person behind. I've never left a student behind. Its one of the first things we discussed, is to put a pillow on driver seat when waking up to use restroom. And even with no pillow there, I still peek through the curtain just to make sure. Just plain lame and stupid to leave someone behind.hauler881 Thanks this. -
Mega carriers are known for dispatch ignoring phones and qualcoms. They come up with their excuses. Just way of life and not much can do about it. It helps to not spam your dispatch, and only communicate real important stuff, and then they'll be less likely to ignore you knowing your a driver that only calls with real problems. I've been in dispatch office and seen dispatch completely ignore the phone due to the name on caller id.

Team driving is where the profit is for the trainer, and probably the company too. Maybe for first two weeks student does all the driving in days. Then the next 4 weeks is driving like a team. I'm not sure which companies do it differently, where student does all the driving and there is no team driving?
Yes, qualcoms now can talk to you, and yes that trainer sounded worthless.
