I havent made a post in a long time so I have to keep plentygood happy. He may think I died or something.

What do y'all think about that Qualcomm message? I was shocked actually. I mean are there really drivers who don't wear their seatbelt? It second nature for me to put it on and some of the interstates you need it just to stay in the seat lol.

Knocking the trucks down to 65 won't help. I know glass is already set that way. I normally run 63 but I do feel like I am a hazard if I am in a 70 mph zone running slow. Traffic doesn't just "flow" around you at a certain point. You have people cutting you off just because you are running much slower than the flow of traffic that trips your on guard system. I know we are the professionals but I feel safer going with the flow compared to pissed off people flying around me.

I think that things like speeding (especially in a work zone) should really have a stronger punishment from Maverick. Everyone will get a ticket sometime by a DOT officer having a bad day picking over your truck with a magnifying glass but speeding and seatbelts are 100% in our control. I know we can avoid the failed inspection citation too but we all know that DOT can be picky and a lot of that stuff is opinion. Hard to dodge the bullet with speeding or seatbelt though.

I can't blame them for being concerned but I think the answer is harsher punishments instead of reducing speed and saying what the company's rank is. If people are going to speed through a work zone in a 68mph truck, they will in a 65mph truck also. That reduction is only going to hurt drivers who do play by the rules. And the seatbelt....well I mean #### guys, its neon orange. How can you forget to put it on. No excuse there.

I don't work for Maverick, but I liked him in Top Gun. That being said, I agree with your thought process. If you want to control a certain behavior you make the punishment swift, severe and public. Problem is most companies don't think that way. They're more concerned about driver retention assuming that if you fire your bad drivers you'll replace them with worse drivers. On the same token most every company has a terrible turnover ratio.

Iceman did say it best, just replace up in the air, with out on the road.

Iceman: You're everyone's problem. That's because every time you go up in the air, you're unsafe. I don't like you because you're dangerous.

Its a safe bet that most of the speeding tickets were awarded in 25, 35, and 45 mph speed zones...so you're right, slower trucks will probably make it worse instead of better...harsher punishment would accomplish much more in the long run.
