KW, I would admit to that--in general. The playing field is not at all even, very lopsided in favor of the company and mega OTRs are rife with abuse of drivers. I had rentals and there was this huge imbalance between between me financially, and prospective tenants. So I tried to bend over backwards to be fair while still watching out for my own interest.
When the company has all the power, it has a HUGE responsibility to be fairer than fair. The mega OTR companies seem bent on driver destruction, use, abuse and discard. The opposite of fairer than fair.
TTR driver-bashers remind me of psychopaths. Lusting to pick apart a driver's bones. Worse than the megas.
The OP said PTL fired her on hometime; PTL had a problem retrieving truck, begged her to come back. She did and got fired again on arrival at PTL drop yard. I'm satisfied with those facts and whatever further OP cares to disclose. Do not want to see OP put through another TTR prosecutorial cross-fire--petty feeding frenzies disgust me. I don't care why PTL fired her. Irrelevant.

I enjoy your posts Victor! I don't always agree with my wife, and Im married to her.I respect ALMOST everyones point of view here.
Im becoming more of a hippie the older I get
disclaimer... as long as its not conversation about our oybamaVictor_V Thanks this. -
I'll ask an OP questions if it warrants, but not being a basher or prejudger at all.
It's simply questions to get the complete details.
I don't take company's side or driver's side, unless sufficient details show it's clear to make any judgement.
Every court operates the same way. Questions are allowed and vital for both prosecution and the defense, in the name of fairness.
Just because either side is asking questions to get to the complete facts/truth, does not signify any "psychopathic drive" or "picking apart any defendant's or witnesse's bones", but simply is a basic required step to get full truth/facts uncovered, in order to make an educated/informed judgement.
A jury needs to know all facts, before convicting or exonerating. A simple question is NOT an accusation or conviction.
You seem to be taking any questioning by us waaaaay overboard, and think of it as strictly an accusation or conviction,
which it is NOT.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Some ppl are quite over dramatic and very one sided without knowing all the facts or any of the facts for that matter..

I don't consider you a driver-basher, KW.
Others, yes. This is not a court room.
Keep in mind that in a court of law, there are strict rules about what can be asked, including relevance, exclusion of prejudicial information and a judge right there to actively moderate and keep decorum.
The mods can and do step in based on very simple rules about name-calling, bickering and insults. Up to that point, it's pretty much a free-for-all and some take advantage.

Some of us have learned code for excuses here. And they do run the gamut. Abandoned truck: they lied, I turned the truck in at the Pilot close to my house.
Violated company policy: nobody told me I couldn't go 600 miles out of route to see my 7th cousin.
Service Failure: I was only 4 days late and gave the receiver an attitude when they weren't getting me unloaded on time.
failed Drug test: I was in the same room as this one guy, I haven't smoked in at least a month.
Sent home from orientation: they only asked for felonies.
Didnt get the job due to not meeting minimum requirements: they lied and only want to hurt truckers
Not reading contract/ filling out paperwork improperly/ etc: They steal drivers' money!
Wife is mad because he's been gone for 3 months and she only got $62: they stole my money!/ I spent it all on lot lizards, what's this burning, itching oozing rash??? -
I'll concede you the human condition and all its colors and permutations, not the right here to bully the OP or suggest that OP 'must have done something big' in order to get fired on hometime. That takes things down to the bridge too far.
Let's say you or someone else pries something juicy out of the OP. I don't see that as a positive at all. The OP got fired twice by PTL. Some folks here, and I DO count you among them, have a low regard for drivers. It permeates your posts, joseph, and I deplore it. -
I do not have a low regard for drivers. I am one. I have a low regard for people who refuse to take responsibility for their actions. I know of a guy who got caught in Indiana. For speeding. In a construction zone. He had alcohol in the truck. And an unauthorized passenger. He blamed the company and started a whole thing that they lied and they treated him like garbage. I worked for that company. I know better. There is a title in front of driver. PROFESSIONAL. And too many times, people refuse to be professional. That's not low regard. That's truth. And in order to be treated with respect, we as an industry must earn it. We can't turn a blind eye to some of those who absolutely will not be professional. The entitlement position that some take in this industry is disgusting. Nobody owes you, myself, or any other driver anything except for the money we rightfully earned. I asked the question, why was the OP fired. That's not showing a "low regard". It's showing an interest to get to the bottom of the problem they presented us with.

A lot of the one and done posters are just here to complain. Your experience on the TTR will be varied by the Forums that you visit. Personally I like the Bad Company Forum because it leads to more discussion. So if we we're to make a review of the TTR some people would be positive, some would negative, some would poke and prod to find out more information.
The same applies to people posting about companies. In this case PTL had decided to term the OP during their home time. Since there are no other facts involved we can only assume what happened. The story goes the recovery dude had an issue with the van, so they asked him to bring the truck back and fired him. What did he expect, they had already decided to fire him. One good act doesn't change a career of poor decisions. Once he was fired he should have just let the truck sit where it was.
So without the specifics on situation it's hard for anyone to determine if a company is good or bad. From what I see they had cause to term, situation went awry, asked driver to do the right thing and then parted ways. That isn't enough to make them bad in my eyes. -
@ Victor: I learned a saying on the doctor and med school forums: Don't feed the trolls.
