Your friend is pretty much stuck. That's the part about company sponsored training programs that suck and why I always recommend that folks do all they can to pay for their own schooling from a non carrier based school. I know, especially in this economy, that is pretty tough to do but it does pay dividends if one can do it and saves the heartache of being stuck at a place that sucks. If your friend jumps ship at crst BEFORE fulfilling his contractual obligation, that may well make it nearly impossible to get into another company's training program because, who's going to want to take the risk of spending the money to train him? I do not know too many companies out there that will not make folks get another DOT physical because they have to have the long form copy of the physical on file.

He really should stick with CRST and complete the 8 month obligation. Otherwise, Paschall Truck Lines might hire him and use his current medical card. Not sure about Carolina Cargo, but he can try that one also.

This is probably why Werner needs to see pay stubs (though I can't imagine how someone could work 3 months and never get a pay stub---confusing).

If your buddy can't come up with a pay stub (man am I confused), then tell him to wait for his W-2 in January. Every employer is required by law to provide a W-2 or 1099 by Feb. 1st.----there is his proof of employment. I have had to use W-2's to provide proof of working for a company that has gone out of business.

Now if the reason he doesn't have a pay stub (have I mentioned how confused this makes me) is that he is paid direct deposit, and they don't provide an actual paper stub....then there is a way to sign on to their web site, and get it and print it off there (there are companies that ONLY do it this way). Or maybe they will accept a "screen shot" of the pay stub off the QualCom.

    This SHOULD be a non-issue!?!:biggrin_2552:

I plan on telling him that he needs to just stick it out. There are absolutely no guarantees when it comes to truck driving. When he was home last, he called Knight and Roehl. Knight took forever to get back to him and with Roehl, he took the physical but failed because he had high blood pressure at the time. They were supposed to reschedule a physical for him but they never got back to him so that was thrown out the window. He needs to not leave CRST, unless he is 100 percent sure that he has a plan in place that will go through. Thats what i plan on tellin him next time i talk to him.

I have direct deposit with Swift. I can log into the driver center and see each of my settlement. What I do is "print" each one as a pdf file, then save the pdf files in a folder on my computer. If I ever have to print them out on paper I can simply go back and open each pdf to print it out. If you aren't familiar with how to print a document as a pdf, just go ahead and use the print command and when the pop up window asks which printer you should have a pull down menu option for pdf.

I would suggest talking to the operations manager about how friend can leave without it tarnishing your chances of finding employment elsewhere.Tell them your situation.Your friend will have to pay for the schooling but maybe he can work out some kind of payment plan with them. Also your friend needs to start taking BP medicine to keep his bp normal otherwise whos to say he will pass the next physical.

Why isn't he asking the question?

I think it would be prudent to have him speak for himself so we can understand what "problems" he is having?

There are all kinds of things new drivers don't get or forget or worst yet don't listen about, maybe sitting down with their company interface (what ever they are called) and hash things out would be a good thing.

    ^^^^ THIS...

    ... it is ... odd ...

... that so many folks are posting about their boyfriend, husband, friend... but we never hear from the actual person who's in the situation. Perhaps it's an internet access issue, but it would be far better if the person would come aboard here and hash out the facts with us.

Call recruiting at USA Truck. We are looking for experienced drivers with a good record and they will probably continue paying on his school loan. Might even offer him a sign on bonus. Unfortunately they most likely will send him for another drug test and physical, but there is no wait for that.

Awesome post. He's suppose to be an adult. An adult should be able to speak for himself. If you cant speak up for yourself, you're going to get walked on by every company that you apply to.
