MW Logistics. They held my truck for 2 days lying over and over about something. And finally, when all brokers were gone, and my driver is empty, ready to pick up- Whooops! They never had a load!
Beware of brokers like that!
So, dear brokers, next time, when you say- hold the truck for me please- I will tell you go .... ........! I will book the load with you, I will tell you that the truck is yours, but when I see the better rate, I will just cancel on you. How about that?
Ok. I am not going to do that. But, really, I can't express how angry I was with the broker. So, just, if this happens to you, don't be afraid to call them every 5 minutes. If you don't get the rate confirmation in 10 minutes, let the broker know, that you are not going to wait for him, and you are going to cover your truck with someone else.
So, lesson learned. But we still need to know, who does this kind of thing.
So bad brokers are welcome in here!

We used to load garbage in CA that was'nt even sold, to NY and they'd try to sell it on the way. I hated that. Flatbed is the only way to go.

This sounds like a TQL post. They get my vote for worst broker ever known to exist.
Skunk_Truck_2590 and deskdriver Thank this. -
Check out the "Gold Book of Transportation Brokers". It lists brokers that pay within 30 days. Maybe brokers on this list have better business practices than the broker mentioned. http://priefertlogistics.com/logistics_affiliations.php . Write a note, reminding you what the broker cost you. He will forget what he did. When he gets in a bind. He will call you up. Make sure you raise the price on him.

Flatbed is the only way to go. In the FANTASY world of trucking everyone thinks the BS does not happen pulling a flatbed but in the real world of trucking there are hassles and problems as well .
snowwy, BigBadBill, Skunk_Truck_2590 and 4 others Thank this. -
To each his own--BUT--some of the best $$$$$I ever made was when buyers in Cali and AZ--still did this--they would do all the legwork--and keep dealing all wknd--and by the time you rolled into either the point or chelsea--load was always worth 500-1k more than originally discussed--of course back than we ran on % of sale--but thats another story in itself--LOL
and I love the FB-Ice Box--arguments--3cousins(same grandad)all 3d generation-I have only pulled icebox--my cousin(my age)only flatbed--and younger kids gone back and forth a dozen times--wonderful family fights!

i picked up a really sweet run for the weekend. 12 loads needed to be hauled. only 3 trucks are running it.
we're all waiting to unload. IF we can get unloaded. apparently they have too much already. and aren't operating for whatever reason.
so much for that really sweet run. good thing i had nowhere to go. at least i'll have plenty of recap to run this next week.
and to think the broker was all in a panic over nothing.luvtotruck Thanks this. -
So why aren't you charging them with a "truck not used"? If they don't agree with it, I don't screw with them period. That can tend to be big money lost but if you set a truck hold, say for 1-2 hour minimum then start charging for every hour after regardless if used or not. Then charge a flat rate when the truck is canceled as a truck not used. They will raise hell and complain about it but if they don't agree then the load can sit there and they can find some other sucker dumb enough to let themselves get shafted (no pun intended). If you don't lay it down on them then they will use you anyway they can and they don't if you loose money or not. They are still making theirs so you have to be holding some of the cards in the game but this is the ace up the sleeve.

One aspect that folks should consider is that brokers rarely actually have control of the freight. Customers control the freight. [Stuff] happens and often that [stuff] is beyond the control of the broker. If a customer has a hot shipment that gets delayed or cancelled, then of course the broker is going to look like the bad guy to a trucker.
I know, having been the customer booking the shipments side of the equation for over 30 years, I've been responsible a time or three for somebody getting held and then released. Trust me, none of those instances were fun for me, the broker, or the trucker... or my customer waiting on the other end of the shipment. Packaging is late to the factory so the shipment can't be run through the final packing line, the customer calls with a last minute change to the order, the factory lied to me about the actual status of production, final QC detected a problem and the shipment has to go into 100% inspection, etc. etc.
[Stuff] happens...
... the real brokers and businessmen man up and make the hard phone calls early to all parties involved in a transaction.rollin coal and FLATBED Thank this.
