Correction, last year they bought them was 2010. I know this as I was at a terminal for USX and a couple mentioned USX had ordered twenty or so and all went to the Tunnel Hill terminal and senior teams got first pick.

Regardless of the talk, I can assure you it was 2008. 2010 is the last year they purchased automatic trucks. There may have been a potential order, but fell thru. I was employed there at this time. The sister company Total purchased new Volvos in 2010 and replaced a majority of their fleet with them. Drivers may have gotten excited when they seen them in tunnel hill.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
The only USX Volvos I've seen are owned by lease drivers. No clue what year they are. I'll find out next time I see one.
I've done recoveries at Markham, dropped/picked up Volvo 780s from the Volvo dealer in Alsip, IL. All of them 2010, belonged to Total of Mississippi....sister company of USX.
I was JEALOUS. The interior was awesome. Solo driver had it set up like a lounge. X Box, 30 inch tv, fridge, etc.
I hope US Xpress brings them back. Volvo 780 sure would make life on the road a lot easier. Those trucks have a lot of room to play with. -

No, tell me

Drivers have to be comfortable while the mechanic sits there and fights with the truck on the side of the road. By the time road service manages to get the part off Volvo might have the part ready for him to pick up.
They're geared for driver comfort but they're a royal mess to work on, and parts are outrageous to track down. Which is VERY surprising seeing as how a lot of fleets buy volvos. Parts for freightliner KW Pete etc. I can have in a day Volvo always takes forever. Finding somebody willing to work on them is an issue as well. Fine if you're a company driver notso good for a lease driver or an O/O.Western flyer Thanks this. -
That's why US Xpress stopped buying Volvos apparently. Had a lot of issues with them.
Their doing away with the ProStars for the same reason. -
Never had issues with the 780s I had... the prostars on the other hand.... wow... yeah...

Well I have read this thread from the beginning and I am glad things are working out for you and your husband and I hope it continues to work out. Now that I have read it I hope that if and when your husband switches carriers again that he will do research so the you do not end up in this situation again. We all make a bad choice at one point or another and it should be marked as lesson learned.
I too am glad that TTR has started monitoring these posts as we do not need a bunch of put downs and name calling to each other. You can say anything to anyone as long as it is done right. Everyone has and is entitled to their opinions just be cautious of how you say it.
You stated in one of your posts that a friend of yours went on a dedicated account I hope it was not with CRE after reading this threadTruckDuo Thanks this.
