I have a question, I just recieved notification today that I was accepted to Millis Transfer, Training in Ft. Worth. Next class is yet to be scheduled in January. I was told to call end of November for my class date and to pay the initial $100. My question: Does this mean I have been hired? I understand that it is pending sucessful training, but is everything else cleared, or is something subject to change once I pay the $100?

You don't have a job till they tell you that you have a job, they have scanned over the paperwork you sent them and it looks "good" Now when you get there then they will run the actual back ground checks and all of the numbers need to line up, they will run the Employment Verification and all of that after you get there. WHY ARE THEY ASKING YOU FOR MONEY? Please see my signature.

The recruiter I spoke to said to call late November for my training dates as they would be in January and the dates were not set yet. She said that at that time I would pay $100 by credit, debit, or bank draft and that with processing fee the actual amount was $103.00. Then when I started my class the remainder of $400.00 would be due and that I had to get a permit before I began class in Ft. Worth. I asked her if this meant I was guaranteed a job after training and her response was that they never like to say that anything was guaranteed, because there could be a serious accident or I could fail my training, but that as long as nothing bad occured during training, I was hired and would be triving for Millis Transfer, Ft. Worth.

I was approved with them recently as well. They checked my employment history before they approved me though. As long as you pass the school you are hired I believe.

Millis has a very good reputation for drivers. You should be ok as long as you pass their physical and your application is accurate; most companies are pretty strict on the application matching any checks they do to verify. This would be a good time to check your blood pressure and sugar levels and ensure they are good, even with medication. You have from now until orientation to get those under control if needed. Best wishes.

I work for Millis. Short answer yes you are hired. There are things that can disqualify you tho. Fail drug test or don't pass the class. In those cases employment will be withdrawn. School is 3 weeks and orientation is 3 day following the completion of schooling. Your official hire date will be the last day of orientation.

What is the $100 for? Why don't they take all $500 at one time?

Because I am an entry level driver and that is what they require for training.

Get your ducks in a row, and follow the plan. You won't be sorry. The $100 says you're committed enough for them to reserve a seat for you in the class. The $400 says you're committed enough for them to line you up a trainer once class is completed.

Total cost of the training is $5K. $2500 is forgiven after you complete one year of employment. You're making a $500 deposit, essentially. The other $2K is deducted from your paycheck until paid off.

Millis is taking a chance on, and making an investment in, you. It is a fair deal. I have not been disappointed.
