Chicagoan Truckers: What about West Side Transport

We got our CDL back in March. Wolf CDL School does not get you behind the wheel of the truck everyday. 120(I think) hours of it is spent in a classroom studying the brake test & conditions the parts of the truck should be in. 20 hours is spent driving around town, 20 hours is spent turning & docking, 20 hours is spent doing observation.

The simulator the school has does not work. Each student sits in it & pretends its a real truck. We have to tell the instructor out loud what each step is to while doing the brake test. If we miss up then we have to start all over.

The school never went over log books, trip planning, map reading, DOT & FMCSA laws. They told us our company would go over that stuff. I wish they taught that at Wolf.

The State of Illinois comes every Monday to Wolf to test 20 students. They have a big yard to do the Pre-Trip, Straight Back, Right Turn & 45 degree Dock. Once you pass that, then the state takes you for the road test.

Wolf had only 10 Speed trucks when we were there. The trucks were all day cab Macks & International trucks. All of them were very old, broke down a lot. Overall it was a good school for the price. We paid $2000 each. Plus, we liked that they offered flexibility for those of us who had full time jobs.

 

Wow ! Can't believe Wayne is still there. He has been trying for over a year now. He brings Amador a fruit then Amador makes a joke about hooking up with Wayne's wife.

He will be a danger on the road if he gets his CDL.

 

Sergio was always hitting on my wife. He is a perv. My wife says he took a pic of her. I can only wonder what he does with it.

Brings back memories for sure.

One time Amador had this big black guy on the stimulator, Amador told him this big elaborate story about once he goes over the road.....his wife will start to cheat on him, when he calls home each time his wife's "uncle" will answer the phone & if she becomes pregnant...he should do a DNA test. Then the funniest thing happened. The black guy is like "who told you this happened to me?". Turns out something like this really happened to him. He found out years later but by then it was too late because his name was on the babies birth certificate. LOL
