Chill out people.
To the OP: Companies will be entrusting you with expensive equipment hauling potentially valuable cargo. They might be apprehensive about putting someone behind the wheel who might fence it all for cheeseburgers and strippers.
Just sayin.
does grand larceny makes it more difficult to get hire???

Yay Cheeseburgers and strippers!
On a serious note, to the OP after probation maybe you could land a job but most good companies are looking for ten or more years free of criminality. Also Hazmat and TWIC are off the table for around that amount of time by law so no port or many other types of freight that are classified as Hazmat. You can most likely get on with a local outfit that hauls construction supplies, end dumps, asphalt, ect. That will add up as experience and possibly allow you to get on OTR with someone in the future. -
Hazmat and TWIC are no big deal breaker.
I've never had TWIC, and I've had maybe 10 HM loads in nearly three years. And I dropped it last month when I transferred my CDL to MN.
Too much pain (and $$$) for not enough gain, and I doubt I'll get fewer loads as a result.
The big problem is a person that steals cars for kicks at 18.
And at 21, still barely out of diapers - and no one can know, or trust, what that person might be up to.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
Hopefully get my license next month and see what happens after that. I will get a job prolly not OTR but i will im from NYC and there prolly be one person out there that will trust me

Not only is the grand theft itself at the core of you being non-hireable with any decent company (read as... companies besides Augie's Illegal-Run Trucking Co),
but it also shows a huge red flag on your ability to make wise safe decisions.
In trucking, we have to make wise safe decisions nearly every minute. The grand theft shows an employer you are probably not great at making wise decisions, much less any safe ones.
A long waiting period, with no further criminal charges and also a clean driving record, will allow you to "earn your trustworthiness".
Not trying to belittle you or rain on your parade,, just simple facts of life & employment.randal02lee and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Well i have the good license record havent got a ticket since 2008 an no points..my felony is not bad like other felony is a E felony the lowest felony you could get and its to the lowest degree witch is 4th degree...an was my only case in my whole life i was just around wrong ppls an thats the bad out come..

You're trying to minimize it, and it's effects.
The fact of the matter, and all that counts to any employer is... a felony is a felony.MJ1657, Tonythetruckerdude, WorldofTransportation and 1 other person Thank this. -
Honest answer ? I had my personal vehicle stolen and in it was a photo album of my children and a lot of places and things we shared. I am a pilot and my flight bag was in there with my log book and a lot of gadgets. Also was I nice set of tools I carried around.
It is a lot more than just losing my vehicle. I was in a different state, had to buy a new car, deal with insurance and all the frustration.
And they never found my car.
If you stole food because your kids were hungry is one thing, but don't care much for a car thief.
I would not hire you ! You want a positive comment and I am positive.randal02lee, Jimmeyjack, KW Cajun and 2 others Thank this.
