I drove a 379 at Marten and even though it's not a traditional style it was a much better than the Freightliner I was driving.
Only two things I didn't like. Could only see the blind side mirror through the oversized triangle window which doesn't roll down making those night time backs in snow or rain that much more special. The other thing was the large turning radius, just made some maneuvers a little more difficult. -
When I dream about a long hood Pete............

"ain't no feeling like petermobilin" they last for ever and ride like they are on rails not that buckin and swaying like that swedish junk or freightliner crap. Pull the pedestal out from under the seat. They don't need an air ride seat. I think people ought to
be shot for drilling holes in the hood of a trk for them stupid lookin mickey mouse ear lookin mirrors. Some drivers don't care as long as they make money it's not there's so who cares!. A trk is just a tool, some of us think differently we like to take pride in our trk's and jobs. Some may say it's pure vanity, but i know my customers like my long nose trk all shiny and looking good. The trk is 9 years old and never once been behind the scale house for inspection. Knock on wood!. It doesn't rattle or creek either. Like them plastic, fiberglass junkers i mentioned beforeke5adb and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
You talking about those silly mirrors that let you see your blind spots better ? Heck it's only peoples lives . Never been through a NoZone course ? What was the last year freightliner driven ? And most resent Pete you been in ? The 2014 that Pete brought out 3 weeks ago to demo was junk! Bringing out a demo , you bring your best. Plastic everything , just like our freightliners . I did not make it out the yard , turned around . 300 miles on her , more rattles then my 2011 with 400,000 my truck . Paccar's build quality has gone to poop.
ke5adb, Flying Dutchman and Skydivedavec Thank this. -
Every thing has gone down in quality not just Paccar. Trucking is not the only industry that is losing its pride either, shows in the quality of every thing we buy. If you want a good Pete gonna have to buy one a few years old that has been taken care of. You want a good shaker its about the same deal every one is cutting cost. Bad thing is in the end even the best equipment wears out and must be replaced. If we are lucky they will replace us with it.

We have been running freightliner and Volvo plus a few internationals. The quality of freightliner and Volvo has improved over the last four years . Our last Petes traded out in 09 . International I have never liked. I think both have had a head start on using today's materials , Paccar is just behind on the learning curve. They will get there.
