A buddy of mine used to drive for them... a LOT of your pay is breaking down loads. He didn't mind it though. Some places were a pain in the rear like PFG (Performance Food Groop) they required breaking down onto two different pallets... the large and the small. Other than that he loved it. They have autos. All top notch equipment.

Actually my biggest complaint with dot is the equipment. They buy their trucks so you will have a high milage one as a newbie. The shop tries to save money so they pretty much told me to run unsafe until I got back to the yard. The auto trans is junk imo.

Oh trust me, I wouldn't want an auto either. Yeah when he started he had a high mileage truck too. It seems your better taken care of if you've got a few years under your belt.

Like I said... my very close friend worked for them. No need in calling anyone an idiot. It seems you would've understood that I was speaking from what I heard from my friend. It's not my fault you can't comprehend that driver. He has no reason to lie about it.

6 months after your out of training your allowed to take riders, but your required to sign a release form each time you take one/ load that IIRC states DOT's insurance will not cover them.

Replying to an old post BUT...

I am near 60K finishing my first year...my health insurance is completely paid for, I am home sometimes 4 times a week.
DOT has turnover simply because they are limited in where they can recruit drivers. You must live about 100 miles away from their warehouses.

I get holiday pay for I think 8 holidays a year. Reimbursed for all expenses, Excellent shops keep me on the road. Flexible dispatch (they say forced, but I get to go where I want most of the time)
