So why do you hate backing so much?I think your questions would be better answered going to Pilot.

A few drivers on this forum were hired by Pilot and Loves right out of CDL school. Must depend on what area of the country and if they need drivers.

each area might be different, i saw a posting at the Lebec FlyingJ they were looking for fuel haulers but they wanted I think 2 yrs tanker and fuel hauling experience.

i dont hate backing like that no more. lots of the nervousess i use to have is going away. but it wont go away fully till 5 years. i just want more $$. i need more savings and just more $$ in general. my 1 year hits january and i really wanted to go o/o with a container company. but i dont know now. so if i do company driver for a few more months i wanna go tanker.

if your keywords are 'easy' and 'local', then straight truck probably would be best (assuming that unloading labor doesn't interfere with 'easy'). Local ,, more than likely means lots of stops. Lots of stops means more maneuvering. More maneuvering means less ..easy :-D

Pilot or Loves sounds easy to me and it sounds like a great job. But do you also want weekends and holidays off? If so, then that might not work either. At least not until you get some seniority. It's what deterred me from going that route. My perfect match of 'easy' and 'local' ended up being out-and-back OTR (tanker) runs during the week, off weekends and holidays. I'm not home every night and I don't make 65k+, but the job is easy, no hassle, pays well enough, decent equipment and I'm home often enough and when I really want to be home.
