I started with Melton and right out of the gate Memphis to Laredo. 857 paid miles and a 1 piece load 20 feet long with 8 straps and 3 chains lol. Over secure everything. Seems like good folks from the ones I've met. I'm in truck 7644 if ya see me.
I have gone through there a ton , havent loaded or unloaded there but all around , roanoke and ohio , so on. welcome , hope you like it. I had a great week last week 2 loads 2935 miles 1 tarp . this week was 2 loads 1800ish and I am scheduled for hometime monday , only problem is I unload the first stop monday here at home and the last stop is in Ca. , so I am wondering if they will repower it or make me take it...and then have to deadhead home from california after being home on time for once lol. Either way I should be home Tuesday ( I get to spend this weekend home which is kinda nice ).
If they let you deadhead home, politely inform them that they will let me deadhead home next time! I'm not too impressed with my new DM. First week with him, and he left me hangin all weekend. The last 5 weeks or so have been 2000-2300 miles weeks, not diggin it. Who's your DM cannon?
I just got rid of her! Karen Crall. She just moved to that position last week. Had her for 4.5 months or so, never once talked to her. She didn't even call and welcome me to Melton! Every single time I needed to talk to her, she was unavailable for one reason or another. From what she said via Qualcomm, she was moving to a DM position for new drivers, do you know what happens when you're no longer new to Melton? Do they switch you to another DM? This program has only been going on for a week or two I believe.
Dm has less to do with your miles than anything , they can't pick loads only relay stuff to the load planner. Give me a call anytime. Miles depend on your area and number of empty trucks and then flags ie. hometime/terminal bound for whatever reason, also hazmat affects you good and bad sometimes it helps sometimes it hurts . I asked my dm to take mine off my driver card so I don't get hazmat loads anymore , Things you can do to get more miles are empty early and drive hard ( safely of course ) and send in macro's then learn to tell when your in a bad triangle and insist on getting out of it , even if it means flag for home which busts you out automatically, or if you need to go to a terminal to turn in your truck lol. My first 3-6 months i had a big headeache trying to get a handle on the randomness of weeks but I feel a lot better about it now , and it should get better now that I understand what I get myself into sometimes. Even if I have a low mile week or two I can figure out why and make plans to fix it.
I was MT Friday morning, got a preplan at 1230 to pick up 270 miles away at 1700. Sent a message saying I wasn't going to make 1700, that was 2.5 hours before my DM went home for the weekend. No response. Showed up at Nucor in darlington at 1730. Nucor let me know that appt was for 1500 and that I needed to get another appt set. Sent off another message immediately, no response again! sent a third message an hour later... Nothing. slept at Nucor, sent another message this morning... Nothing again. Finally got a call at 1000 this morning, load was eventually picked up by another carrier. Ive been doing what what I can to either deliver the day before or park at cons for an early morning unload. I just can't seem to catch a break! As for hazmat, I like it. It seems to keep me out of Western Extrusions. All of the 15 or so times that I've been MT in DFW area, I've been sent to GAF. I can't complain about that.
