Get a lawyer.

The fine is high enough so it is worth it to invest some money into getting it knocked down.
And put a freaking light on that switch.

How in the heck did you miss that? Talk about just staring out the window and not paying attention to anything else. I can understand the not realizing that you accidentally dumped your airbags, but to not notice your tandems sliding all the way to the back....c'mon.

no i dont think i am perfect....but thats a big mistake IMO.....and hard on the equpiment.....thats one of those things you just shouldnt forget...dont get mad at me for havin the guts to speak my mind
i am banned.....my posts are only your imagination...LOLCat sdp, Roadmedic, Hitman and 1 other person Thank this. -
The overweight is one problem but the fact that you corrected the problem by flipping a switch is another. In most states it's illegal to have a functional cab controlled dump valve on your truck. You supported the officers case by using the switch.
rank Thanks this. -
if the ticket says the problem was corrected by flipping a switch, and doesn't say where the switch was located i don't know why it would matter, and i belive that is a state by state thing. if it was illegal to have a dump switch in the cab he probably would have been cited for that as well.

Illinois loves to find these situations. They like the local dump trucks.

like I said I learnt from it....was driving through bad weather and was concentrated on other things....these days I look at where my tires are, I also glance at lights etc on the sides of my trailer. That was my mistake but at least I admitted to it and learnt from it. -
Must've been the only shipper in the nation with no stops on the way out. The big BOOM right before the next stop sign might have been a clue. Not that I have any first hand experience with that LOL. Or maybe the blue line was not hooked up either. Mysterious.
Since I'm on a roll, let me be the first to say to the OP: I bet you won't do THAT again!!
You're welcome!
Love,

It is on the trailer that you have to get out off the cab to use dump valve switch or lever what ever you call it.
