I'm gonna go with the 720. Seems like each unit has its flaws but it going with the Atlas helps in the decision.

Both of these units and the smaller versions are on sale at P /FJ right now.

    I can't decide.

These sorts of purchases are difficult. A sizable purchase, and though they do the same fundamental thing, they are 2 different animals and you won't know what YOU like until you've tried each for a week. A lot has to do with what you may be used to and what are your expectations and wants.

A lot of guys who rave about one, have never tried the other so you have to take their "advice" with a grain of salt. Me? I've ran (have) both and prefer the big Garmin over the big Rand McNally

What makes you prefer the Garmin?

Traffic warning, (better traffic system out of the box), a better warning prompt system (traffic issues, weigh station, etc), the way it handles multiple stops/vias and gives you option to view distance to end or next stop, longer routes are more likely to match my company's routing/fuel plan, much faster routing and start up, somewhat more intiutive, better auto-zoom function, better upcoming ramp or route change interchange "picture and lane synthesizer", and a few other little things that might not seem important to some but are to me.

Man this is a hard decision lol. Dont have the money to buy both. Ill try one and if I dont like it then go with the other one. Only gonna be making $375 during training so that limits my ability to buy both. Thanks for the info though. Made my decision harder lol.

Skip the GPS. Buy a Rand McNally Truckers Atlas and get a feel for how to properly plan a trip before relying on a tool that can and will let you down if you don't know enough to know better.

I know, and like I said, if you only have one, you'll never really know if you made the right decision. Maybe someone needs to set up a "GPS rental" business ... try before you buy. Rent 2 units for 2 weeks for $75, along with a return box to ship the units back with a credit card to insure return. Rental cost can be applied to purchase of new factory boxed unit if driver decides to buy one ????

I do have one already and completely plan on doing and planning my route out with that. I just want the gps more as a tool for help with POI and stuff along the way.
