I went through c1 in INDIANAPOLIS IN and it was very excelarated but a good school my advice is to get your permit before you go, so to get more time in class and learn more there.. Also get the pre trip down and work on it till you know it. That seems to give alot of people trouble, learning to drive is pretty easy at least it was for me. Also work on 4point brake test also very important GOOD LUCK................................

Ok bud, I've got a couple questions for you.

    1. Will PAM hire someone from Myrtle Beach, SC area? I have heard two differing opinions. I saw their hiring map and I'm in the sliver where it says they don't hire from there. But then I was told that these maps don't really mean too much and they do hire from my area. Maybe your trainer would know. I'd like to get a second opinion.

    2. Do they run only auto transmissions or do they have manuals for the people who like those?

    3. Do they run you in all 48 states if you can stay out longer than the average driver? I am single with no kids and would like to get with a company that could get me all over particularly out west so I can gain experience in all 48.

Thanks for your help. And good luck.

hey I leave in a week for C1 in indy to train and then on to pam. Did C1 have you get your Hazmat? I have already got my CDL-A permit.

I finished with C1 Driver Solutions in Fort Wayne. I'm supposed to call PAM on Tuesday and I'll find out when my PAM Trainer picks me up.

Hey, I'm considering using the C1 program to get into PAM as well. Any inside advice would be most appreciated. Also would be using the Ft. wayne school. Good luck and keep us posted.

I live in South Carolina now.... Was hired from MI, but got absolutely no grief from PAM when I moved about where I moved...

Yes they run 100% autoshift trucks (not automatics, still manual trans but computer shifted)

No, we typically do not run all 48... We stay out of the north west and the upper north east. We do a LOT of east coast to about TX.... But, with where you are living, get ahold of Allen Frieght (AFS). PAM company but located in Jacksonville, FL.... Probably better to hire in with them... They run by all the same rules and run the same trucks and trailers...

I would give you their corporate site, but not allowed to here for fear that someone might get a better idea about a company that they MIGHT want to go to... PM me and I'll give you PAM's website or do a search on one of those search engines for PTSI (PAM Transportation Services, Inc.)

Oh and something to think about. If you really would prefer all 48. Think about Swift. I know you hear a lot of bad things about them. A friend of mine works for them. He's paid good. Gets great miles. Nice trucks. Manual trans. Runs all 48. He says the office crew are a bunch idiots, but after he let them know exactly how he wanted to run and pounded it in their heads, he doesn't have a problem with them anymore... He knows what he is doing next before his current trip is done.

    Just a thought....

But don't go to their schools....
