It's called an EOBR and it's less flexible then a Drill Sargent on crack.

There is also a whip, it goes by many names - Quailcom, Drivertech, Peoplenet, etc.

Home is the truck. Your house is a place you visit every so often if you are lucky! :biggrin_2554:

Here's one they don't tell you in orientation, or truck school for that matter.

It's all your fault. Doesn't matter what it is because your the driver and it always is and will be your fault. Even if you buy you own truck it's your fault because you have no one else to blame at that point. Any other time there's way more people to blame you and we all know drivers don't stick together so might as well just bend over, take it, and firmly say "Thank you sir may I have another."

Even when you are standing before the Mighty One (Judge), he/she will say "It's your fault! You are a Professional Drive; you should know better!"

    RizenPhoenix Thanks this.

They don't tell you about the live unloads that are scheduled for 2hrs, and if you show up 10 minutes late it's a service fail, so you get there 30min early, get a door right away, and then sit for over 6 hours until you're able to go.

They don't tell you waiting 6 hours for a 2hr unload is short.

(personal experience here, ymmv) They don't give you any effing clue on how to drive in the dark. Or how to back in the dark. Or not swing way too wide in the dark. Or any of that while it's also raining.

I didn't hear them tell me not to drain ALL the water out of fuel/water separator. They for sure didn't tell me to just reprime the engine if you do.

They don't tell you that driving at night with the headlights you get will feel like you're driving by candle light.

The school my bf went to actually did require them to drive at night a few times. It wasn't many but better than nothing :). Was one of the only good things about his school.

Back to the original thread :).

Hometime, of course, is always NO PROBLEM during recruiting and orientation.

    So what's that really mean??

If OTR, your hometime's NOT THEIR PROBLEM. It's your problem.

If you get home any time close to what you asked for, consider yourself lucky.

Or not. Best not to ask. Less is better.

Hometime will be punished... reduced miles, etc.

back when I had a first shot at driving I didn't have orientation or driving school, went and took the test, got the license, then went to an O/O's house. he said you can make it home every night driving for me.....................what he neglected to mention was home at midnight to 12:15 and better have my ### back at his place by 4:00 AM to do it again. Man I loved that job.
