I got out of my trainers truck because he was a Jerk(not the word I want to use). Before I did, I told my US Xpress training coordinator that I wanted a new trainer. He wouldn't listen to what I was saying. He kept going on about how I would be routed back to a terminal and it could take weeks to find a new trainer. He asked me to give it a few more days. I did because my wife had a good trainer. I was with this guy for a week. I learned nothing other than to go forward. He would scream, complain that he hated trucking, his life, US Xpress. He sued his last company over an injury he caused. Plus, he was a pervert. I always suspected he might have molested his teenage daughter or wanted to.

When we delivered in South Carolina, I had a cab pick me up. My trainer wasn't expecting it. Went to the local enterprise and got a rental. My wife's truck had broke down so I picked her up at the Ohio terminal. We went back to Chicago.

I was so pissed about our time being wasted that I wrote Max Fuller(CEO of US Xpress) a letter sharing my experience. He had the head of training call me. She apologized and invited us back and promised to set us up with good trainers. Her dad it turned out owns 50% of US Xpress so it was important to her that this wasn't the image of the company we had. Things worked in the end for us.

JustPJ, We got your back. There are a lot of us who has gone through this. Makes me angry that these companies put a trainee in a truck with someone who they call a "trainer" but really the guys an idiot. It can be very scary when your with these people hundreds of miles away.

I met a guy from Somalia who was put with a trainer from Arnold Transportation. The trainer went home for the weekend and would park the truck in a rural wooded area. He left the trainee there all weekend while the trainer went home. He had no access to a restroom, food, etc. The trainer would stop by twice a day to bring him food and water. He threatened to leave the trainee behind if he complained to the company. The trainee is an immigrant so he's scared to lose his job so he didn't report this.

I doubt I'll hear from them on my message but I think im gonna call them on Monday and ask. This is sad but as my dad said a rough world to be trucking in. PJ, if I were in your shoes, id accept the fare for the bus ride and find a way to pay it forward later on in life. You have angels offering to help you and those do not come around very often. If I had the money, id already be sending you my Credit card number for a ticket home. Unfortunately, im dead broke living off unemployment till I get a job.

Navajo would probably say that the trainee volunteerily left the truck. They would never admit anything wrong.

    Neither can I Pattyj.

This story breaks my heart and reminds me of my incident in Kingman AZ. Luckily, I had parents who helped me out. I do feel bad for you PJ as I can only imagine whats going through your mind. Heres my advice for future trainees: Get in writing what happens if you and your trainer do not get a long. This way you have insurance if they do abandon you.

will the company's give you things like that in writing ? or will it be like a red flag on the trainee that he might be hard to get along with
