I think it's funny that a CB is legal in your truck but cant use your cell with a hands free devise. Your qualcomm has audio so you can listen driving down the road. You have to take your hand off the wheel to hit the button (in most cases several times to get it to play) and while it is playing a lot of the time you have to listen more then one time if its a long message all the while your distracted.

Anyone else think Steve is working for Millis already (as a recruiter), or he is really that gung-ho about these camera's? He's never driven Commercially how could he possibly have these consistent pro- Millis-pro- Camera outlook, without ever giving the other side a thanks= already on the payroll.

You have made it very clear that you are right..... having said that, in all of research which mind you is based alot on what "Dan said", did you stop to think when something happens, WHETHER YOU ARE IN THERE TRUCK OR NOT!, that they can honestly say on YOUR RECORD, he wouldn't have hit that deer if he wasn't on a lEGAL headset because we say no? Or changing radio station? Four wheeler cuts you off but your fault didnt have 2 hands on the wheel?You a smart guy I think you get the point. It is not there for the driver in any way shape or form period!

You guys just don't get it. Dan told me very little. Most of my research had been internet based...this is the age of technology you know. Info on ANYTHING is readily available. Regardless what you guys don't seem to get is that I have NEVER said its there to benefit you. I have daid that IF you are doing nothing wrong IT CAN benefit you. I have never said I like them. In fact I have clearly stated that I DON'T like them. What you fail to understand and what I havr tried to express is that right now your ONLY choice is to either quit or figure out how to work with it. What you fail to understand is that it makes no difference what you like, or don't like...it doesn't matter how you feel about it or if it benefits you or not. All that matters is that the company is putting them in your trucks. You have no choice. The only choice you have is to quit or stay. But before you make that decision you should understand the long term impact of technology that 1.) Is here to stay, 2.) Is extremely likely to become a regulated requirement, and 3.) You have no control over. I am above everything, a realist.

Should you be dinking with your phone while driving? Nope. Texting? EFF NO! My question was, and still is, what will cause a conversation?
Oh and I was thinking that if cuss words sets the thing off, I could compile a 10 hour playlist of music with enough vulgarity in it to make anyone say "enough!" that would make the auditor's life hell. That thing will be taking clips non-stop as I go through a Tenacious D playlist lol. You wanna watch me for a 14 hour day? Better get comfy, cause we'll be doing this again tomorrow! Hope you like my awful singing voice, or me fumbling through some rap songs haha!

It is not voice activated it is motion activated with a free floating sensor. People are going to be paranoid until they experience it. Why dont you reason it out. Try this...what makes a business sucessful? Answer: profit. What affects profit? Answer loss of income. So...a business that loses income is not profitable.
Get that in your head because that is the basic foundation for ANY business. Now with that understood we all admit that mega carrier corporate pukes could care less about the driver...but what they do care about is profit so the bottom line is maximize profit and minimize loss. So first question. Would a corporation voluntarily install a device that would cause a loss? The answer is no. Why because loss affects the bottom dollar. Now lets change directions.
As a driver you are an official representative of the carrier in an official vehicle that belongs to the carrier. If you are involved in an accident there is no legal separation between driver and carrier. As a representative of the carrier you ARE the carrier. They can not separate liability. Now ask yourself is there ANY benefit to the company to assign blame to you? Since they are legally liable if you are found at fault...does finding you at fault create a profit or a loss for the company? Because EVERY decision is based on profit/loss. The answer is finding you at fault creates a loss for the company. A loss in fines, a loss in equipment, and a loss in lawsuits.
The only way they can profit is to prove the driver is NOT at fault. If they can prove the driver is NOT at fault then they dont get fined...the equipment loss is paid from the other vehicle and there is no liability for lawsuit. So ask yourself. ..why in the hell would a carrier voluntarily create a situation that will create a net loss? The simple answer is...they will not. Therefore since ALL business decisions are based on profit/loss the purposes of the camera is to create profit.
Until these cameras, any rear end collision is automatically the following vehicles fault. With these cameras that is no longer the case...btw I learned this argument on the Teamsters union forum...since they are not so stiffnecked about it and since they are predominantly O/O and the loss comes directly out of thier pocket its a little more personal to them...not here or from Dan. Now you think it through from here. An unattentive driver A cuts you off. You brake hard but can not avoid the collision. If you are found at fault the company is fined, the company insurance has to pay all damages including medical. The company is open for a lawsuit they can not win. They lose an experienced driver And their ACS score skyrockets opening the carrier to bring flagged for spot inspections. How much profit does that spell for you?
However...with the cam... provided you are not talking on the phone or using apps or are otherwise not abnormally distracted the video absolves you...because...and this is immensely important...don't miss it...if you are NOT absolved of blame the carrier is not absolved either. The carrier is not found to be fault free unless You...the DRIVER the representative of the company are absolved...so...now...which makes sense from a profit/loss standpoint? -
"incident" or not, by allowing that camera in your truck that is what your inviting.and with that comes more people sitting in an office who have NEVER been in a truck telling you how to drive and how to manage your day.
