I see. It seems you are more upset with the crop of new guys coming up; and less about the truck stop stuff. There are still some quality youngsters coming up, but ya gotta look a little harder. Happy trucking.

    I don't wash dishes.
The only thing I really rinse out is my coffee mug.

Plates and bowls are plastic, and they get thrown out after one use. Probably because I am just too lazy to want to wash them for another meal.
Utensils are also plastic, and they get wiped clean with a paper towel, and then re-used until one breaks.

I never use things that kill germs (except plain soap and water), because that just means my own immune system will always be on vacation.
And I want my immune system to always be on the ready to fight off those pesky little things.

I've been sick once in the past 3 years, and it laid me up for nearly 2 days.
I usually get sick every 2-3 years with a bad cold or flu. But I never go to a doctor for it. I just get plenty of sleep and eat and drink what I need.

From my experience and observations, the more you try to avoid getting sick - the more you get sick.
Using anti-bacterial soaps, getting meds for every little thing, going to a doctor every time you don't feel well - these all lead to weakening your own immune system.
They also lead to drug-resistant strains of the things that we fear most.

There is a term used often these days.
    NO FEAR!!!

Well, where does that come in when sickness is involved?
No fear means letting your own body fight it to the end, plain and simple.

    I agree.

I don't always go to the restaurant, but I always try to make a point of buying something at any place I stop at - even if it is just for a pee break, and I only buy a candy bar or cup of coffee.
Because, the next time I might need that stop might be the day after they have closed due to not enough cash-flow.

Im the same way, usually have one or two half drunken sodas in the truck cause of this. Usually use those for my waking up in the middle of the dying of thirst nights. About the only way I walk out empty handed is if I just got fuel unless I need something to drink.

I agree that a lot of the younger guys are rude but at the same time I get rudeness from guys doing this 30 years that act like I have no clue what I'm doing. I have pulled van and flatbed and hauling oversize in to NYC. I think I should get credit for the fact I do know what I'm doing.

Yes I'm younger than a lot of you guys but I learned the same courtesy from my dad, a 30 year driver, that was shown in the past. You are right there are a lot of guys who can't/won't put down the phone and focus on the task at hand, being a driver. They piss me off as much as they do you but fact of the matter is, we aren't all that way.

    bergy Thanks this.
