We're on E-logs but if it happens to malfunction (say log you out and you forget how to get back in) you switch back to paper. That computer thingy tends to malfunction on my big mileage days, not sure what's going on with it. I'll have the shop look at it.

Elogs are a double edged sword,
The most common violation I see now when checking csa's as of recent is the 30 minute nonsense that didn't exist a few months ago .
These violations in particular are hitting smaller carriers harder,
Its an easy one to spot .
The larger carriers have mostly switched because they figured out , how to squeeze blood out of a rock with them .
I liked them before the 30 minute nonsense.
    Now it's all seemingly pointless.
Do your best and stay safe

This is probably one of those newbies for a trainer who knows more then the veteran drivers do.

I used to think they were the worst idea ever.....til I actually ran with them. We stated with the Cadec system I think it was , and after a short time switched over to the Xata system. Once you learn how it operates it's great. the thing I liked most about it was...it keeps everybody honest...the driver , the company...and let's not forget that 500 mph dispatcher , who thinks you can do miracles over night.....Don't worry too much about it now since I'm retired , but I still think they are good for the industry as whole.
